General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) is doing a fantastic job of getting under nearly everyone’s skin in Port Charles. As GH viewers know, Cyrus came to town initially to get revenge on Jordan Ashford (Briana Nicole Henry), and he’s quickly set his sights on getting into Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) with his drug trade.
Obviously, nobody’s happy about this, and now Cyrus has started his takeover of the hospital, as he’s recently become chairman of the board.
Well, with Cyrus in a position of leadership, all sorts of changes are occurring. As GH viewers know, Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) and Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) were recently fired from their positions at the hospital – supposedly because they opened the hospital up to liability when they prevented Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier) from asserting her parental rights before Wiley Quartermaine Corinthos’ (Erik and Theo Olson) heart surgery.
Recently, Sonny and his associate Brick (Stephen A. Smith) had a run-in with Cyrus at Turning Woods, where Cyrus was “innocently” volunteering with the patients there.
Of course, nothing is innocent when it comes to Cyrus, so Sonny and Brick had a little conversation about what Cyrus’ motives were in Port Charles. Of course, Sonny could quickly figure out that Cyrus showed up at Turning Woods to antagonize him, which makes perfect sense.
But then Sonny and Brick had an interesting conversation, during which Brick said that he wondered what Cyrus wanted by taking control of General Hospital.
Without verbalizing why they thought Cyrus wanted control of GH, Brick and Sonny seemed to acknowledge that they had an inkling of what Cyrus wanted. And that leads us to wonder exactly what’s going on here.
What is Cyrus’ endgame when it comes to General Hospital? Why would he want to be chairman of the board?
Both Epiphany Johnson (Sonya Eddy) and Deanna Sirtis (Dioni Michelle Collins) have expressed serious concern over the sweeping changes that Cyrus is bringing to the hospital, and then Monica and Bobbie got summarily fired.
It looks like the changes that Cyrus has in mind won’t be good ones at all, but why would he want to upset everyone with big changes?
Well, one thing that Cyrus might hope to gain is inside information on the employees and patients at GH. Cyrus has already been seen trying to get info on Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) after his motorbike accident from Portia Robinson (Brooke Kerr).
Perhaps being large and in charge at GH is Cyrus’ way of infiltrating people’s lives in Port Charles and being on the pulse of what everyone is up to.
Of course, another possibility here is that Cyrus wants to use the hospital in some way in his drug trade. Cyrus might want to turn some of the hospital’s staff in a way that would benefit his goal of pushing drugs and running drugs through Port Charles.
One thing’s for sure, and that’s that Cyrus really wants to get a foothold in Port Charles and being chairman of the board at the hospital is one major way to get there.
