General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Lulu Spencer’s (Emme Rylan) exit will affect the canvas in some surprising ways. All signs point to a deadly departure for Lulu at the moment, so let’s consider what that means for Dustin Phillips (Mark Lawson). Will Dustin stick around after Lulu is gone?
GH seemingly brought Dustin on specifically as a new love interest option for Lulu following Dante Falconeri’s (Dominic Zamprogna) exit.
General Hospital writers later invented a history between Dustin and Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Briana Lane), but Dustin has always been clear about his feelings for her being in the past.
Other than some sporadic Brook Lynn bonding moments and some teacher scenes with the teens, Dustin’s existence has been pretty tied to Lulu. He doesn’t even have much of a personality other than he’s a nice guy and Lulu’s boyfriend. What do we even really know about Dustin and his background?
General Hospital writers have never taken the time to properly flesh out the character, which could mean bad news for Dustin after Lulu goes. What’s Lulu’s boyfriend going to do when he can’t be Lulu’s boyfriend anymore?
Since Dustin isn’t very exciting on his own, whether he sticks around depends on whether GH wants to try pairing him up with someone else. If General Hospital keeps Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) with Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell), then they’ll probably let love bloom between Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn.
Since Brook Lynn would’ve been the most logical backup option for Dustin, that’s another troubling sign about his potential exit from the show. There’s also the fact that Dustin and Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) are kind of similar characters. We have enough dependable heroic guys in town, so Dustin could easily be pushed out.
There’s a chance Dustin could get a deadly exit of his own, but it’s also possible Dustin will simply leave town – perhaps to grieve and build a new life away from the Lulu memories he made in Port Charles. Dustin might take a teaching job elsewhere and move away for a fresh start.
