Tonight we are going back to the first bachelor Alex Mitchell, in 2002. The first-ever limo arrives with Alex, and he walks up to Chris H. The mansion looks smaller than the one used present day. Alex is 31 and now that he has accomplished all things he wanted to for himself, he is ready to meet his forever. Twenty-five women have been chosen to date Alex.

The limo with the first women arrives, Kim walks out and meets Alex. Then Shannon, Jill, Christina, Amanda, LaNease, and more. Chris H. tells Alex he has to go in and mingle with the women and choose the fifteen that he would like to date. Bachelorette alumni, Trista, is there. Chris brings out fifteen rose and tells Alex that it is time for him to choose his women. He chooses Amanda, LaNease, Tina, Trista, Shannon, and more. Alex finds the women with roses are beaming and the one without are glaring at him.

Alex is worried about a date with six women, that’s not a date, it’s a party. Trista brings in the first date box, Alex goes to Vegas on his date. Angelique gets bonus points for taking Alex away from the other women and spending some alone time with him. At dinner, there is little attention. LaNease and Alex are in a gondola, and it is tradition to kiss under a bridge, so Alex leans in and kisses her. The first official Bachelor kiss ever! Rhonda is aggressive, but unfortunately, Alex didn’t feel a connection with her and sends her home.

Rhonda and LaNease join Chris H. via video from their homes. LaNease says they were lab rats, but looking back, it helped her grow as a person. Rhonda says that she has made a lot of friends from the show, even though she coined the phrase in the Bachelor nation that she was not there to make friends.

Alex feels like he has a connection with Shannon and during his date, he plans on telling her. He arrives dressed in a suit, she is in jeans. He picks her up by a limo and brings her to a dress store where the store is hers to choose whatever dress she wants for the evening. Music starts, Alex asks Shannon to dance, she admits that she is really falling for him. Alex can envision her as the mother of his children. But there is a problem, Shannon can’t give herself to him emotionally and he can’t let her know how serious he is until she gives in.

Shannon made it all the way to the fantasy suite, and she doesn’t like it. She just knows that the other women who are left are going to get the same proposition and it rubs her the wrong way. When they are in the hot tub, Shannon even has a hard time letting Alex see her in a bathing suit. In the end, Shannon gets sent home and doesn’t make it to the final two. She shakes his hand and leaves. She returns and asks him why. Alex says she is amazing, but he feels like they are two different people at different points in their lives.

Shannon joins Chris H. from her home in Houston, Texas. She says the night before she and Alex had some private time the evening before, she was expecting a rose and to meet his parents. She says she ran into Alex in New York, it was great to catch with him, but that was years ago and she hasn’t seen or heard from him since. She asks Chris if she and her husband can visit the Bachelor mansion some time. Her husband, Jason, and two children come on camera, they all look adorable and very happy.

Amanda and Trista are the final two women vying for Alex’s heart. Alex is on a date with Amanda and things are really getting heated, the two have a real connection. They get a fantasy suite card and Amanda has no problem heading there with him. Amanda can barely wait, she wants to rip the suit right off Alex. Alex says she is the best person for him and he is falling hard for her, he believes there could be lasting love. Amanda wants to start their future together, she is falling in love with him and wants to spend the rest of her life with him. In Amanda’s perfect world, Alex would ask her to marry him. But, Amanda is not the only person vying for Alex’s heart, there is Trista.

Trista is a little shy and reserved, and it takes her a while to open up to people. She wants Alex to find her desirable and get more one on one time with him. On their date, they cook together and she makes him nervous because he likes her. Early on, he lays it on the line with his feelings for her and she doesn’t reciprocate. She ends up telling him that she is in-like but not in-love. On one of their dates, in a helicopter, Alex vomits in a bag. Trista’s walls were pretty guarded with Alex in the beginning, but in Hawaii, she really turns around and gives him more, impresses him more. Trista could see it being her in the end.

The five weeks have passed, it is time for Alex to choose between Trista and Amanda. He does feel in his heart which women is right for him and he can’t wait to make that information public. Today is the moment that this process was all about and Alex cannot wait to look the woman in the Alex first tells Trista that he doesn’t think they are meant to spend the rest of their lives together, and this is the best for her. It’s not that Trista wanted to be engaged, its just that they had a great talk and Alex told her that it was her, so she believed him. She let her guard down for him, and he hurt him. She thinks he is a great guy, but whatever happens, her life will go on, she is just sad.

Amanda meets Alex by the beach, he tells her that he is falling in love with her and he got a ring for her. He wants her to hold on to it. He thinks they have come a long way, but there is further that they can go before they walk down the aisle. He asks her to move to California to be with him. And then, he gives her the final rose. Unfortunately, Amanda and Alex split after the show.

Joining Chris H. from her house via video is Amanda. She says that when they got back, she moved to California, she got a calling back to Kansas for a DJ job, they tried to make it work for a year, but it didn’t work. Chris H. says they have tried to get a hold of Alex for years, she says that she hasn’t heard from him in six years. She says she would love to catch up with him, she has nothing but fond memories of him. She is now a nurse practitioner and she has a ten-year-old daughter. Chris H. wishes her well. Chris H. tells the camera, “Alex if you are out there, you are always welcome back to the Bachelor family.”

Chris H. joins two of the Bachelor Nation’s biggest fashionistas via video from their homes, Nicole Lopez-Alvar and Demi Burnett. Chris H. shows some photos, the first bachelor Alex. Nicole says he looks like a daddy with a 401k, Nicole says the jacket matches the concrete behind him. Chris H. thanks the ladies, Nicole asks to see some of Chris H.’s photos. Chris says he looks like he was swimming in his dad’s suit. Nicole says he looks like he is going to tell her everything about Scientology.

When Alex sent Trista home, she became America’s sweetheart. Trista is the first Bachelorette. We see her exit the limo looking fantastic. The first limo arrives with the men, she is so nervous, anxious, and excited. Jamie is the first out of the limo, then Greg T., Bob, Russ, Ryan, Charlie, and more. Trista can’t believe how handsome the men are. One man brings her a Tiffany bracelet. Bob starts goofing around and dancing, he has this amazing sense of humor. The person she is probably most sexually attracted to his Charlie. Ryan wrote a poem, she loves how sensitive he is.

For the first group date, it is a trip to Vegas. They all have a wonderful time, Trista can’t believe how lucky she is. Greg T. is very happy the way things are going with Trista, she feels it is a dream come true, he sings, plays the guitar and drives a motorcycle. As well, he has a lot of the qualities she is looking for in a husband. He brings her to his studio apartment, she tries not to be superficial, but his apartment is not somewhere she can see herself living in. With every date that she goes on, it has been a reality check and she finds it mentally exhausting to choose.

After a year of dating, Cassie and Colton broke up. Chris H. joins Cassie from her home via video to discuss the breakup. She says that it is a sensitive subject for the two of them, but she will say that it is really hard, especially going through a breakup in public. They are in good terms and hanging in there. Cassie says they broke up before COVID-19. She has no regrets at all. She really doesn’t say that much, she admits she doesn’t want to disrespect Colton in speaking about their relationship.

Trista has narrowed it down to her two final men; Charlie and Ryan. Charlie had been cheated on, and so has Trista – she feels that is part of their connection. Ryan on the other hand, Trista is really attracted to, she loves the poems that he writes for her. He is such a romantic, and she has always wanted someone like that. And when he comes out of his shell, he has a really witty character. The way that she feels when she is with him, her heart flutters. Ryan is submersed in love with Trista.

It is the final day, Trista meets Charlie first and tells him that it was an immediate connection. She goes on to say that her heart has led her in a different way, and he is in incredible man. Trista is crying, he says he only wanted to be with her if the feelings were there for her. He wishes her nothing but the best. Charlie really didn’t think that she was going to choose Ryan, he thought he was going to have a relationship with her. He feels like he has been thrown under a bus.

Charlie joins Chris H. from his home in Phoenix, Arizona via video. Charlie says he was as shocked as anybody when Trista picked Ryan. He had feelings for Trista, and he had no idea what direction it was going to go. Charlie says he met his wife ten years ago, he has a little girl, Sienna who will be a year old next month. His wife, Katrina, comes on camera with his daughter. Chris H. congratulates him. Charlie tells him that love finds you. Then Chris H. tells Sienna that he will see her in twenty-two years.

Ryan is walking down towards Trista, and she knows that everything is right in the universe. She tells him that she is in love with him and she hopes that he feels the same for her. Ryan kisses her, then he tells her he made it to the end because he found love, she was his strength, his inspiration, and his breath. He tells her that he loves her with every ounce that he is, he gets down on one knee and asks her to marry him. Trista says yes, he puts the ring on her finger.

We get to see Trista and Ryan’s wedding when it aired on TV, they looked so happy. It was actually the first wedding in Bachelor Nation and 22 million people watched it.

Trista joins Chris H. from her home via video. Unfortunately, Ryan cannot be there, he is in Denver Fire Academy, he is working really hard. She tells Chris H. that she is loving to see all these seasons over again. She admits that her breakup was bad with Alex, but things worked out for the better. Chris H. says there was controversy to put a woman in charge. She admits that some said to her how is she going to conduct herself not to look like a floozy. She says it is a double standard, they would never say that to men. Chris H. surprises Trista with Ryan via video from the Denver Fire Academy. Ryan tells Chris H. that he appreciates his wife and thanks to her for picking him. The kids join Trista, there are a boy and a girl. Chris H. just wanted to see everyone together. Trista says this was the dream, the reason why she wanted to do the show.

THE END!
