The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers reveal that fans are speaking out over the rapid aging of Kelly Spencer (Avalon and Collette Gray). Of course, this is just an offscreen change for now due to the safety protocols on set, which are keeping kids out of the picture.
However, it’s a change that’s important to discuss since Kelly’s SORASing affects the current storyline along with B&B history.
Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) talked to Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) about Kelly being four years old, but she should actually be two. It’s nothing new for a soap to rapidly age a child, but the storyline does suffer for it in this case.
There’s been some emphasis on Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) struggling to pick Kelly up when it sounds like Kelly should be a lot more independent than the show’s letting on.
There’s also the matter of Liam getting Hope Spencer (Annika Noelle) pregnant so soon after Steffy, which was a huge deal and could’ve added to a future sibling rivalry between Kelly and Beth Spencer (River Davidson and Madeline Valdez).
Unless Beth is rapidly aged as well to line things back up, that part of the story will be forgotten.
Let’s look at what Bold and the Beautiful fans have been saying on Twitter. “I refuse to let #boldandbeautiful rob me of the precious moment Finn compares Kelly and Beth’s age and realizes that Liam is the resident lame #knockupking,” one viewer insisted. “No way are we just supposed to forget that additional character flaw that tears into the shows #boreustopiecescouple!”
“That crap they age kelly to make liam feel better about himself or is beth now 3 and a half,” another B&B fan tweeted. One more fan said, “How the hell did Kelly turn four? The girls are months apart..we all know that… Kelly is two…Beth is one, try AGAIN writers…” “I mean, no wonder it’s been hard for Steffy to lift Kelly. She’s four,” another viewer tweeted and added a crying with laughter emoji.
Will the other offscreen kids become victims of SORAS-ing aka Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome, too? Time will tell, but many B&B fans are disappointed with the decision to age Kelly when it’s just not necessary right now. We’ll provide updates as other news emerges.
