The Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Scott Clifton Explains Liam Is the Bad Guy in Steffy’s Story – Urges B&B Fans to ‘Enjoy It’

The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers reveal that one CBS soap star recently spoke out to correct some misconceptions about his character. On Twitter, Scott Clifton (Liam Spencer) addressed some tweets by fans who felt like B&B was making Liam to be the good guy through his John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) blame game.

However, Clifton argued that’s not the story that’s being told.

“This is a misunderstanding of the narrative,” Clifton said in reply to one Bold and the Beautiful viewer’s tweet. “You are *supposed* to recognize that Liam is in the wrong here. He’s rationalizing. The point isn’t to make Liam look good; the point is to make him look *bad*—not only to the audience, but to the other characters as well. Enjoy it!”

In other words, Liam’s the bad guy for once. If you really pay attention to the story that’s on screen, The Bold and the Beautiful is making Finn seem like the hero with a good heart – the one who cares about Steffy and wants to see her thrive.

Liam’s coming across like a territorial ex who’s letting his history with Steffy cloud his view of Finn – and that’s exactly what B&B writers want. After all, they put a lot of time and effort into selecting a new love interest for Steffy.

Tanner Novlan was brought on B&B specifically to be paired with Steffy, so they certainly weren’t doing to put Finn in the mix as anything but the gallant, helpful doc.

It’s Liam who’s essentially the villain Finn has to defeat in this case. When another fan brought up how the writing turned many viewers against Liam, Clifton was quick to point out that he had nothing to do with what the writing team does.

That’s something Clifton doesn’t have control over, so he didn’t see the point in the writing backlash he was receiving.

However, Clifton did want to clarify where things stood with Liam – just to make sure fans knew Liam’s attitude was about justifying his actions, not making him any kind of hero in this story.

Clifton admitted that he doesn’t care whether Liam looks good or bad, but he does care about the narrative and how fans receive it.

How do you feel about Liam’s role in Steffy’s storyline? Do you agree that Liam actually looks bad and makes Finn look even better as a result? We’ll provide updates as other B&B news emerges.
