The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that we should talk about the next step for Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) and Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) – as well as the rather bizarre steps they’ve taken so far. Abby’s had a string of failed romances, so it’s nice to see her happy.
However, the direction Y&R’s chosen to take with this relationship has been pretty odd. It’s strange to go from declaring love for the first time to planning a family with someone within a matter of days. Abby wasn’t even ready to say “I love you” until recently, but now she wants to have Chance’s babies!
Also, aren’t Chance and Abby skipping a step or two here? What about an engagement and then marriage? Of course, it’s 2020 and there’s certainly no reason why these two have to take the old-fashioned approach.
Still, it’s not like Abby’s been making speeches about how she’s so against marriage or something. Abby would surely be all for being Chance’s wife.
There’s no reason why Abby and Chance shouldn’t be discussing an engagement before they get down to baby business. Instead, Chance and Abby are just planning their family in a hotel suite like this is a perfectly logical thing to do after your first “I love you” exchange.
Despite the weird path to get to this point, The Young and the Restless may take a step backward soon. Now that Chance knows Abby’s on the same page about building a life together, perhaps he’ll get an engagement ring and pop the question.
If Abby can commit to having Chance’s children, she can surely commit to tying the knot.
Is a romantic proposal coming up? Chance has a way with words and really knows how to leave Abby melting, so we have no doubt that he could pull off a great one. It seems likely that’s something Chance secretly has on his mind now.
Y&R writers may have been worried about engagement overload since Summer Newman (Hunter King) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) had a double proposal just last month – and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) talked Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) into making a proposal of his own earlier this week.
Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) is still technically Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) fiancée, too.
Nevertheless, Abby and Chance might as well get engaged as well since they’re focused on building a family. It’s not about being traditional since that’s really not necessary these days. It just makes sense considering Abby and Chance are so crazy about each other.
Abby has been willing to accept proposals from men who weren’t right for her, but she deserves another from the man she feels is the perfect fit. Do you think Chance will get down on one knee and ask Abby to marry him soon? As other Y&R news comes in, we’ll pass along updates.
