The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) is facing a bit of a romantic dilemma. Billy shared a kiss with Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) before she suggested they should just be friends. Now Amanda’s part of the team at Chancellor Communications, where Billy’s running the show with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil).
Although there’s been some conflict between Billy and Lily, they’re always able to work through their issues and put the company first. Despite some tension here and there, Y&R’s given Lily and Billy plenty of warm moments, too. They have some nice chemistry in their scenes together, so The Young and the Restless may have a romance in mind.
However, Amanda complicates things since Billy never fully explored his feelings for her. Amanda and Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) have started going on dates, but it’s clear that Amanda still needs closure with Billy.
There’s a lot of longing in Billy and Amanda’s eyes when they look at each other. Amanda could be an obstacle Billy has to get out of the way before he can open his heart to Lily.
Of course, even if Billy can do that, there’s another potential hurdle just around the corner. Lily and Billy could easily find another reason to clash. The Young and the Restless spoilers say Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) seems poised to wow the gang with his younger demographics knowledge.
Theo should score a spot on the team as well, but it may take some work to get Billy on board.
After all, Theo just got himself fired for cheating and betraying Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) at Jabot. Billy isn’t going to trust Theo under the circumstances. It’s possible Billy will be so impressed by Theo’s know-how that he can get past that.
It’s also possible Lily will fight hard for Theo’s place at Chancellor Communications. Either way, Billy may be wary once Theo inevitably starts working for them.
That could lead to more feuding than usual between Lily and Billy – which could either fuel the fire between them or throw water on the flames. We’d bet on the latter due to safety protocols that’ll be in place on The Young and the Restless.
Although The Bold and the Beautiful has plans for blow-up dolls and real-life partners to aid love scenes, there’s no guarantee Y&R will follow suit – at least not unless they have to.
As long as they can get drama out of other things like Lily and Billy sparring over hiring Theo, they may want to avoid love scenes. Y&R can save any creative passion tricks for established couples who really need them.
