The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Joshua Morrow (Nick Newman) is known for getting along quite well with his costars. In fact, Morrow fought hard to make sure a former one returned to the show! Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Lawson) is a good friend of Morrow’s in real life, so he was certainly rooting for Egan to come back.
In a recent issue of Soap Opera Digest, Morrow opened up about his close bond with Egan and how much he wanted her to return. “Missy has turned into one of my best friends in the world,” Morrow admitted. “She’s just like by my bro and we talk about everything.”
Morrow added that he was “so sad” when Egan decided to leave The Young and the Restless in 2018, but he always held out hope that she’d return someday. Whenever Morrow would run into Head Writer and Co-Executive Producer Josh Griffith, the Y&R actor would often push for Egan’s return to be set in motion.
“I was constantly telling Griff, ‘Dude, you gotta bring her back and it’s not even for me. I mean, don’t think this is for selfish reasons. We just need her back. She provides a really cool element to the show that we don’t have,’” Morrow said.
Of course, Morrow got his wish in 2019 – and a bonus one was soon granted when Michelle Stafford reprised the role of Phyllis Summers. Now that Morrow has Egan and Stafford back on set with him, he’s absolutely thrilled.
Morrow suggested that Stafford’s comeback filled a different void at Y&R, so it’s been great to have Stafford roaming the halls again, too.
“It was a win-win for me,” Morrow said about Egan and Stafford’s returns. “Who doesn’t want their homies to come back?” Nick ended his relationship with Chelsea and eventually reunited with Phyllis, so that’s given Morrow plenty of airtime with his favorite Y&R buddies.
