The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Lily Winters Full-Time Y&R Return - Christel Khalil Relocating to LA

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that there’s some good news for fans of Lily Winters (Christel Khalil). If you’ve been worried about Lily’s run being temporary, don’t be. The CBS soap actress promises she’s back to stay – and she’s relocating her family as part of that plan. That’s certainly proof that Lily has a bright future on Y&R.

Khalil and her son moved to Canada in June 2019 to be with her boyfriend, Sam Restagno. However, Khalil opened up about wanting to make a Los Angeles comeback in an interview with Soap Opera Digest.

Since Khalil and Restagno were already considering the idea, The Young and the Restless Head Writer Josh Griffith’s pitch came at the perfect time.

Griffith ran into Khalil at Y&R just after New Year’s Day and mentioned that he’d like to bring Lily back for a longer stint. Khalil was on board for several reasons, including the fact that she was contemplating this LA move.

“Sam and I had talked about possibly moving back before Josh even approached me, so we were already on the same page with all of that,” Khalil said. “It was kind of kismet when I ran into Josh and we had that conversation.”

Khalil suggested her boyfriend’s been supportive about stepping up at home. They “both care about making money” Khalil added with a laugh.

The story itself was also a big part of why Khalil was open to putting roots at Y&R again. Lily and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) are now running Chancellor Industries’ media division together, so it’s nice to see Lily focusing on her career. “It’s something I’ve always wanted for Lily, so it’s nice to actually have that,” Khalil said.

Khalil also liked the idea of showing more women in power, which was in line with Griffith’s vision, too. The Young and the Restless actress offered plenty of praise for Jason Thompson, who’s serving as her main scene partner these days. Khalil embraced the opportunity to work with somebody new.

“So, I was like, ‘Yeah, it would be great to do something different with someone else,” Khalil said. “I was really excited.” Khalil appreciates how Lily is the one calling the shots as the employer rather than the employee.

Of course, it’s easy to read between the lines here and see that perhaps Khalil was eager to do something beyond Lily and Cane Ashby’s (Daniel Goddard) relationship – hence the doing “something different with someone else” comment.

The “Lane” romance had gotten pretty stale, so it’s no wonder Khalil was ready for a change.

Y&R has suspended production due to COVID-19 aka the coronavirus, which has put Khalil’s move to LA on hold for a bit. Nevertheless, Khalil intends to make the move this summer. She insisted that “it’ll be great to really be back full time.”
