The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Theo Vanderway’s (Tyler Johnson) exit is coming up, which means he won’t be around to reunite with Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle).
Meanwhile, we’ve got Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), who seems poised for a love triangle with Summer Newman (Hunter King) and Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope). At this point, Lola’s future is looking pretty bleak.
Lola is barely seen these days – and her name usually only comes up when Kyle repeats his “I’m not in love with Lola” mantra. Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) previously had a close friendship with Lola, so you’d think Lola would’ve been her top maid of honor pick.
Instead, it was Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) who scored that spot in Abby’s wedding party.
It just feels like Y&R has phased Lola out in many ways, so that doesn’t feel like a good sign. The Young and the Restless has reached a crossroads for this character, so will Lola stay in Genoa City or move on with her life elsewhere?
Lola was all set to open her dream restaurant in Miami, but Y&R writers made the bizarre decision to scrap that. Since the venture became so problematic, Lola finally threw in the towel and opted to focus on a new beginning in GC. Unfortunately, that new beginning never really panned out.
Lola was haunted by her failed marriage to Kyle, so that played a huge role in her insecurities and issues with Theo. Now Kyle intends to wait for Summer to trust him again – all while Sally circles like a vulture. Y&R isn’t creating a clear path forward for Lola in the midst of all this.
Of course, it’s possible Lola will just stay on the backburner for a while and keep playing supportive roles – like when she stepped up for struggling Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy). It’s also possible Y&R has a story or even new love interest in mind that’s yet to hit the air.
However, Y&R has pulled Lola out of most characters’ orbits and doesn’t seem to have a real plan. With that in mind, Lola could easily give that Miami restaurant another try or at least head home to her family there. Lola desperately needs a fresh start – whether that fresh start be in GC or somewhere else!
