The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that one CBS soap alum had some happy news to pass along. Y&R viewers will remember Michael Muhney from his time playing Adam Newman in Genoa City. The role is currently played by Mark Grossman, but Muhney’s certainly still got plenty of fans out there.
It’s always nice to keep up with Young and the Restless alums, especially when they’ve got positive career updates to report. On Twitter, Muhney posted a message of gratitude after winning an acting award. In November 2019, Muhney’s latest short film was released. It’s called Sidepiece and it’s been doing quite well on the festival circuit.
This quirky comedy has already won several awards, including Muhney’s win for Best Comedic Actor at the X World Short Film Festival. Now Muhney can add one more award to the list. The Sidepiece movie’s Twitter account sent out a special tweet to celebrate Muhney’s accomplishment.
“Times are tough,” the tweet said. “But we have comedy and we have @michaelmuhney! Congrats to Michael on ANOTHER Best Actor award for #Sidepiece!” Once Muhney saw the announcement, he decided to share it with his followers and offer up a grateful comment. It’s clear that he’s honored to receive his latest award, which is for Best Actor at ALTFF (Alternative Film Festival) Spring 2020.
“A little ray of sunshine to break up all these cloudy days,” Muhney said on Twitter. “Thanks to @teddyt and @MinsunPark for wanting me to play this role.” Teddy Tenenbaum directed this short film and wrote it along with Minsun Park, who also portrays the character of Julie. Muhney stars as Collin and Jenness Rouse rounds out the cast as Lucy.
If you’re wondering what the film’s about, the tagline provides a fitting description: “It’s complicated. Like really, really complicated.” All good comedies are! The gist is that Collin and Lucy meet up for a date, but it’s revealed that they’re cheating on their spouses. Julie, Lucy’s sister-in-law, is actually an enthusiastic supporter of this betrayal – so things get weirder by the second!
It sounds like a fun flick, and it’s nice to see Muhney racking up awards for his work. We’ll keep you posted on any other soap star success stories. We could all use a few more of them during difficult times!
