The Young and the Restless spoilers recap for Tuesday, August 18, tease that Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) will have their big talk about Adam Newman (Mark Grossman).
As Y&R viewers will remember, Adam asked Sharon to help him retrieve his memories of killing AJ Montalvo as a boy. Sharon will tell Rey that Adam had a traumatic experience as a youngster and Rey will realize that Adam wants Sharon’s help as a therapist.
Rey will think that Adam’s being selfish to want her help when Sharon’s dealing with cancer, but Sharon will remind Rey that she knows Adam’s history so she’s in a unique position to help him.
Rey will be highly suspicious, thinking that Adam will use Sharon and that his needs will come first. Sharon will understand where Rey’s coming from here, but Rey will say that this isn’t about jealously.
Sharon will want Rey to trust her to look out for herself and set boundaries with Adam. Rey will openly question whether the toll this will take on Sharon will be worth it, but Sharon will insist that she’s weighed the pros and cons of this and that she knows what she’s doing.
Rey will say that he won’t stand in Sharon’s way if she needs to do this, and that he’ll be there for her all the way.
Meanwhile, Adam will be dealing with an unhappy Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) over the same issue. At their penthouse, Adam will hear from Chelsea that she doesn’t like him turning to Sharon in his time of need, and that there are plenty of therapists out there who would help him.
Although Adam will reassure Chelsea that she’s the woman he loves, Chelsea will be peeved that Adam went behind her back to go see Sharon and set this whole thing up.
Adam will ask Chelsea for her support, because he’s got to get to the bottom of what really happened all those years ago, but Chelsea will think that it’s a big mistake for him to go down this road.
After some more back and forth on the matter, Chelsea will wonder what Adam’s mother would think about all of this, and Adam will be insistent that he needs to get answers to be happy and go on with life.
Chelsea will even suggest that she, Adam, and Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) relocate and start over again somewhere else, but Adam won’t think that running away is the answer.
However, ultimately Adam will say that if Chelsea doesn’t want him to do this, then he won’t. Chelsea will tell Adam that nothing good will come of this, and that it’s not what he needs.
Over at Society, Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) will be back in Genoa City after her trip to Miami. She’ll be spotted by Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and share that Miami wasn’t a particularly good trip for her.
Meanwhile, Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) will make a cryptic call to someone about “not wanting them to know it’s coming,” and he’ll tell the person on the other end that it’s good to have them on board.
Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will be on hand at Society as well, and she’ll urge Theo to let Lola get settled back into the scene, but Theo will boisterously welcome Lola back.
Lola and Theo will head to the kitchen together, while Mariah speaks with Kyle about Theo and his firing at Jabot. Kyle will think that perhaps things between him and Theo could improve.
In the kitchen, Lola will hear about Theo’s firing at Jabot and what Theo did to make that happen. Lola will share that her Miami restaurant dream is over and that she cut her losses with the place.
Kyle and Mariah will continue their conversation, recapping what’s been going on with Sharon’s illness and Mariah will hear about how Kyle’s relationship with Summer Newman (Hunter King) is going well. Once Theo reappears, Kyle will ask to make amends with Theo, who will seem receptive.
At the Grand Phoenix, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will arrive at her room, where Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will be busy preparing things for a relaxation day for Phyllis.
Nick will have a bath ready for Phyllis, complete with bath salts and candles…and a video game on their phones to play. The evening will round out with a nice dinner, and Phyllis will gush that it was the perfect escape.
Phyllis will then explain her next business venture – she’d like for the Grand Phoenix to have a private club all about escapism for women called “The Grand Phoenix Escape Club.” Nick will think that it’s a great idea, and he’ll encourage her to run with the idea.
