The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that the claws will come out as Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) fights for what she wants. Victoria finally seems to have found her Newman mojo. She’s sick and tired of everyone stepping on her to get to the top, so Victoria intends to remain top dog herself!
In a new interview with Michael Fairman, Heinle opened up about the new direction for her character – including a potential romantic one. Before we talk about Victoria’s brewing love story and what that might look like, let’s discuss some changes for the character in general.
Heinle admitted Victoria can be different depending on who’s writing or who’s the executive producer. Some versions of Victoria are softer than others. However, Heinle definitely prefers when Victoria shows off her strength and proves she’s her father’s daughter.
Heinle also feels like current writers made her character tougher coming back from the shutdown. Victoria “seems to be channeling Victor more” – and Heinle’s completely on board! The Young and the Restless star talked about having a lot of fun with Victoria’s fierce side. It’s safe to say viewers will see more of it now that Victoria’s back in the CEO chair.
Of course, the safety protocols will affect how any romance plays out for Victoria, but Heinle doesn’t think her character will be lonely. The Y&R actress teased a possible new love interest that’s ahead – and he certainly sounds intriguing.
“There might be some interaction with somebody coming up that I only know about, because I shot it last week,” Heinle said. “I think it is going to be cool. There’s some romance in Victoria’s future.”
Heinle suggested she initially thought Victoria might be doomed to remain single for a while, but now the show’s “teasing something” that interests her.
Heinle also hinted that the show may focus on new loves rather than new characters. That tells us Victoria’s new man is likely an existing character she’s never been in a romance with.
Since other Young and the Restless spoilers point to Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) drifting toward Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) again, could Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) become Victoria’s next love interest?
That’s a possibility to consider since Y&R chem-tested Victoria and Rey once upon a time. Rey got trapped in Victoria’s office with her during a storm, which led to the realization that he was funny and she was cool. Most of the other characters on canvas are either related to Victoria or involved in new quads, so Rey is the most logical option.
