The Young and the Restless Update: Thursday, December 31 – Doctors Try To Save Chelsea's Life - Devon’s Wild Side Thrills Amanda

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Thursday, December 31, teases that Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) and Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) wedding continues as Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) secretly watches.

Rey talks about how Sharon is his best friend and the love of his life. He gushes over how much his bride means to him and insists he’s proud to join his life with hers.

Adam’s about to leave, but he decides to stay as Sharon says her own vows. Sharon talks about how Rey is her rock and how she’ll be there for him through any tough times ahead. Sharon loves Rey madly and is also proud to join her life with his.

Arturo Rosales (Jason Canela) insists that he truly believes Rey’s found the love of his life, and that this love is built to stand the test of time.

Adam looks pensive as he soaks it all in before Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) appears and hisses at him. She wonders what Adam’s doing there and points out that he was telling her how in love he is with Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) a couple hours ago. “Happily ever after…blah, blah, blah,” Phyllis says with a laugh. “I love it when I’m right.”

Adam insists Phyllis can believe whatever she wants, but he didn’t come there to disrupt the ceremony. In fact, Adam wasn’t sure why he came at all – at least at first. Now Adam’s seen that Sharon is happy and she deserves that. Phyllis wonders if Chelsea knows that Adam’s there, but he ignores Phyllis and exits.

Phyllis slips in discreetly with the gift and blows Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) a kiss. Nick catches it and acknowledges Phyllis as she slips out again. Then, it’s time for Rey and Sharon’s more formal portion of their vows. They promise to be together until death do them part and exchange the rings.

Afterward, Arturo presents Mr. and Mrs. Rosales, so Rey kisses his bride. Everyone cheers as they get ready to pop some Champagne. Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) tells the wedding group that she has something to say along with Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind).

Mariah invites everybody to raise a glass – and jokingly makes sure Faith’s drinking sparkling cider.

Mariah and Faith talk about how Sharon and Rey seem like total opposites in some ways. Nevertheless, Sharon and Rey accept each other. Mariah appreciates how Rey showed up for Sharon even when it wasn’t easy – and when it really mattered.

It’s Nick’s turn next, and he says it’s not every day you get to make a speech at your ex-wife’s wedding. Nick praises Rey for rallying everyone together to become “Team Sharon” during her cancer crisis. “Man, Sharon. Seems like I love Rey just as much as you do,” Nick insists and scores some laughs.

Sharon assures Nick that she loves Rey more and makes her own speech to thank everyone for their kind words. Rey thanks Arturo for officiating, Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) for hosting it at the restaurant and mentions Tessa Porter’s (Cait Fairbanks) beautiful song.

As they all get ready to ring in 2021, Rey and Sharon step over to the bar. Celeste Rosales (Eva LaRue) is on video chat again to welcome Sharon to the family. Lola feels like she’s gained two sisters through Mariah and Faith.

She’s never had a little sister before, but she intends to take her duties very seriously. If anyone messes with Faith, they’re going to have to go through Lola first.

Soon after, Jordan appears and makes sure it’s cool that she’s there. Faith insists it’s fine and asks Nick if she can spend the night at Jordan’s once everything winds down. Nick seems hesitant to let Faith, but Mariah pipes up that she’ll drive the girls later.

“What just happened?” Nick asks as Faith decides it’s settled then.

Nick caves in – as long as Faith promises she’ll be back first thing in the morning to say goodbye to Sharon and Rey before they head off on their honeymoon. Back with Mariah, she rounds everyone up as they get ready to count down to midnight.

In Amanda Sinclair’s (Mishael Morgan) suite, she kicks back in her robe with a glass of Champagne. However, Amanda changes her mind after flashing back to the sweet scene she witnessed between her birth mom and her other daughter. After nearly bursting into tears, Amanda hurries to put some clothes on.

At the Chancellor mansion, Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) talks to Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) about bailing on the “Shey” wedding. They agree they’re glad to have each other all to themselves.

Abby takes pictures of their first Christmas tree and insists she’s memorializing all this, but now it’s time for it to come down. Chance guesses they’re officially a “new year, no tree” household. Abby jokes that they could argue about it and make up – or just skip to the making up part. Chance says Abby read his mind, so she walks over to make love to him.

Later, Abby tells Chance that one of their resolutions should be not to argue at all. They agree to focus on talking before issues escalate. “The things people argue about are money, sex and kids,” Abby says. Chance feels they’re on the same page about all of those things.

At the penthouse, Chelsea wakes up a bit startled on the sofa and calls out for Adam. Suddenly, Chelsea grips the back of her head in pain. She cries out, falls to the floor and drops her phone. Chelsea shakily reaches for it, calls 911 and barely manages to say she needs an ambulance before she passes out.

Adam returns to the penthouse and doesn’t notice Chelsea on the floor at first. Once Adam finally does, he stoops down and calls out Chelsea’s name. There’s a knock at the door immediately after. The paramedics come in and one turns Chelsea over as he checks her pulse.

Adam tells Paramedic Egan (Matt Katrosar) that Chelsea was diagnosed with a cerebral aneurysm and was told it posed no immediate threat. She was supposed to have surgery tomorrow. “We have to get her to the hospital right now!” Adam shouts.

As Chelsea is wheeled out of the penthouse, Adam tells her nothing will happen – he won’t let it. “Everything is going to be all right, baby,” Adam promises.

Over at Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) place, he gets out his Chinese takeout and a cold beer. Amanda shows up at the door and suddenly second-guesses her decision to come.

She worries she’s intruding on Devon’s plans, but he insists Amanda’s the one who’ll be disappointed. Devon doesn’t think Amanda’s going to have much fun since he’s just chilling with takeout.

“This is pretty…sad,” Amanda says with a laugh as she takes in the scene. She agrees to join Devon for dinner. Amanda doesn’t know if Devon is just doing this to be nice, but she appreciates it. She really doesn’t want to be alone with her thoughts right now.

Devon assures Amanda that they can be alone together, so she smiles as he goes to get plates.

Once they’ve settled in with food, Amanda makes an admission. She doesn’t want to talk about Naya Benedict (Ptosha Storey), Imani Benedict (Leigh-Ann Rose), Rose Turner or even Hilary Curtis Hamilton (Mishael Morgan). Amanda’s sorry if that sounds insensitive, but she’s hit emotional overload.

Amanda notes that Devon works in the music business, so she assumes he’s had some wild nights in the past. Devon does have some crazy music stories, so Amanda convinces him to tell her some. Although Devon was the suit meant to keep everybody in check, sometimes he didn’t do his job very well.

Amanda says if she had to choose between an egomaniac rockstar and Devon, she’d choose Devon any day. Devon thinks that’s very kind of Amanda to say. Amanda chuckles over this side of Devon, which intrigues her.

Devon shows off his tattoos, so Amanda assumes there must be a story behind them. Devon admits there are indeed stories, but he doesn’t know how interesting they’d be to anybody but him. “Well, I’m interested,” Amanda says – almost seductively.

Adam can be heard shouting at the paramedics to hurry in the corridor, so Devon opens the door and looks concerned as Chelsea’s wheeled into the elevator. Afterward, Devon fills Amanda in on Chelsea being unconscious on a gurney.

Amanda wonders if Devon’s OK since he seems a bit shaken up. Devon reassures Amanda, who notices the midnight fireworks outside and decides she’d better go.

Back at the Chancellor mansion, Abby notes that Chance humors her a lot. Chance doesn’t mind since he just wants Abby to be happy. Abby says Chance should never make her happy at his own expense and forces him to make it a resolution.

After the countdown at Society, Sharon and Rey have a nice little moment together – which Nick interrupts with a loud noisemaker. Mariah asks Nick if he’ll ever do the whole marriage thing again. Nick wonders if maybe he’s tried it enough times, but Mariah hypes up the romance of it all.

Mariah’s just so happy Sharon is alive and admires how in love Sharon looks. Nick notes that’s the way Mariah looks with Tessa, so Mariah considers herself lucky.

In the waiting room of the hospital, Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) explains that Chelsea is in surgery following her burst aneurysm. She explains the procedure to Adam, who wants to know if Chelsea’s going to be all right.

Elena insists Chelsea’s in good hands and will be in surgery for a few hours – then will probably sleep through the rest of the night. Elena thinks Adam should get some sleep, too. Adam can’t shake the image of coming home to find Chelsea on the floor like that.

Elena feels it’s lucky that Chelsea was able to dial 911 before her collapse. Adam looks like he’s on the verge of tears, but Elena insists he should go home and get some rest. They’ll call Adam if anything goes wrong, but Elena doubts that’ll be the case.

At Society, Lola plays Auld Lang Syne over the speaker system as Faith shows Jordan her big surprise. Jordan’s impressed that Faith was able to sneak vodka in her plastic tumbler. She calls it “genius” and notes that Faith actually came through. Faith seems happy to have pleased Jordan, but there’s some guilt on her face as well.

After Amanda returns to her suite, she answers her phone and hears Naya on the other end demanding answers. Naya angrily asks who this is and why she’s been calling her. She wants to know if this is the same person who was outside her house on Christmas Eve.

“What do you want?” Naya asks. Amanda can’t gather up her nerve to say anything in reply, so she looks overwhelmed and hangs up.

Devon’s alone dreaming at his penthouse when Elena appears, so he walks over and kisses her. As Devon goes around to the front of the sofa, he turns and sees Amanda instead. “Devon?” Amanda asks. Suddenly, Devon wakes up on the couch and looks thoughtful.

Elena’s still at the hospital when she gets a text wishing her a happy new year from Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic). Nate hopes it’s a better one for both of them. When Nick heads to his suite, Phyllis is awake and waiting for him half-naked in bed. She wishes Nick a happy new year and a happy birthday before they make love.

Chance asks Abby if he can have the first dance of the new year, so she agrees and gets up to dance with him at the Chancellor mansion. Meanwhile, Adam heads home looking terrible. He pours a drink, sighs and then puts it aside as he plops down on the sofa. Adam seems super emotional over Chelsea’s ordeal.

At Sharon and Rey’s place, Rey carries her over the threshold and wishes Mrs. Rosales a happy new year. Sharon and Rey kiss passionately before The Young and the Restless puts up a happy new year message for Y&R fans.
