Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Friday, January 1, reveal that Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) and Jennifer Deveraux (Cady McClain) happily walked into the Horton living room after having spent the night together.
Jack and Jennifer were talking about their reunion when Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) sprung up from the couch, thrilled that Jack and Jennifer were back together.
Over at the hospital, Lani Price-Grant (Sal Stowers) and Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) were holding their babies and talking baby names when Abe Carver (James Reynolds) and Julie entered.
Lani lied and said that it was time for a feeding, so that she and Eli could have some time alone and get serious about naming the twins. Eli and Lani bantered around some famous names as possibilities, then Lani said that she had another idea.
Later, Lani, Eli, and the twins bumped into Abe and Julie by the nurses’ station. Abe and Julie held the babies happily and with gusto. Eli announced that the little boy’s name was Carver Malcolm Grant, named after Abe.
And Lani announced that the little girl’s name was Juliet Harriet Grant, and that they’d call her “Jules” so it would be different from Julie’s name. Abe and Julie were touched.
Back in Lani’s room, she and Eli filled out the birth certificate paperwork and reveled in their new little family. At the nursery, Abe and Julie looked in on Carver and Jules, and after they left, someone else lurked outside the nursery and ominously peered in to see Carver and Jules.
Over at the DiMera mansion, Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) and Anna DiMera (Leann Hunley) were enjoying mimosas when Kate DiMera (Lauren Koslow) entered. Anna needled Kate about her relationship with Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash), and Kate got bristly and walked out. “We touched a nerve,” Tony mused.
Later, Anna was talking about Gwen Rizezech (Emily O’Brien) being trouble when Jack walked in and overheard a portion of the conversation. Off-screen, Anna told Jack all about the newspaper clippings that she and Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller) found in Gwen’s room.
Anna insisted that Gwen has some sort of agenda, and Jack thought that Anna was probably right.
Jack explained about how Gwen seemed to have intentionally driven a wedge in between himself and Jennifer, and Anna wanted to go find the “two-faced, conniving little tramp” and run her out of town.
Tony whisked Anna away, saying that this was a Deveraux family matter. Anna was disappointed, but she left with Tony anyway.
Upstairs, Abigail tried to call Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) to no avail, while Jake woke up alone in his room, still upset over breaking up with Kate the evening before.
Abigail knocked on Jake’s door to lament about Chad not coming home last night, and she quickly learned that Jake and Kate were kaput. Jake said that he and Kate were never meant to be long-term.
Meanwhile, over at the Salem Inn, Chad finally roused and wondered what happened last night. Chad remembered drinking heavily, but he didn’t remember sleeping with Gwen.
Gwen recounted what happened, and Chad lamented, while Gwen pretended to feel guilty, too. Gwen noted that Abigail had betrayed Chad first, and Chad was utterly miserable.
Chad got dressed and said that he had to go tell Abigail about what happened, and that he knew about her affair with Jake.
Chad then noticed all the missed calls on his phone from Abigail, and he listened to a couple of the messages, noting that Abigail really sounded worried. Gwen thought that Abigail was a good actress.
Chad then apologized to Gwen for taking advantage, and he said that if he had been sober, then nothing would have happened. Chad eventually took off, and after he left, Gwen smiled and started laughing maniacally.
In town square, Jennifer ran into Kate, and she took the opportunity to apologize for assuming that Kate was still sleeping with Jack. Jennifer disclosed that she knew about Kate’s relationship with Jake, and Kate told Jennifer that she and Jake were through.
Kate and Jennifer discussed how Kate didn’t want Chad to know about her relationship with Jake, and Jennifer asked Kate point blank if she was embarrassed of Jake.
Back at the DiMera mansion, Jack was looking through Gwen’s newspaper clippings of the Deveraux family when Gwen walked in wearing her party dress from the night before. Gwen looked at Jack, noticing that he had her clippings.
And finally, up in Jake’s room, Abigail and a shirtless Jake continued their conversation. Abigail said that she needed to go look for Chad, saying that she needed to do it by herself. As Abigail was opening the door to leave Jake’s room, Chad walked up and found her leaving the room. Chad looked furious.
