Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that some fans’ feelings about the Jake and Gabi pairing may be changing. There’s no doubt that Brandon Barash (Jake DiMera, ex-Stefan DiMera) is a great actor who has fantastic chemistry with Camila Banus (Gabi Hernandez DiMera).
However, the writing for Jake and Gabi just hasn’t measured up to the love Stefan and Gabi had for each other.
In the beginning, Gabi was convinced Jake was her dead husband. Even now that Gabi knows the truth, there’s no denying that Jake being Stefan’s twin affects her feelings. How could it not?
Gabi would drop Jake in a heartbeat if Stefan were back. Jake is in many ways a stand-in for what Gabi wants but can’t have.
This whole Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) mess hasn’t been good for Jake and Gabi as a pairing either. Gabi and Stefan’s primary angst came from their complicated love-hate relationship. It was a much better obstacle than Jake and Kate’s random instant love story.
At this point, we have to wonder if Days might be better off reviving Stefan and putting “Stabi” back together after all. It’d be easy to do since there was never any firm confirmation that this twin is actually Jake. There was only confirmation that twins existed.
Although Jake remembers living a different life than Stefan, the possibility of implanted memories was mentioned several times on DOOL. Even John Black (Drake Hogestyn) thought it was a decent possibility – and we trust John’s judgment in situations like this!
Days of Our Lives spoilers say Gabi will keep working to win Jake over, but we’re just not feeling quite the same spark. Banus and Barash still play well off each other, but it just doesn’t feel like anything magical is happening between Gabi and Jake.
Putting Stefan back in the picture could be the jolt needed to fire this story up in exciting new ways.
