Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Tuesday, April 20, reveals that Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) wanted to know what kind of man Chanel Dupree Kiriakis (Precious Way) married, so she pushed Abe Carver (James Reynolds) for answers.
Abe didn’t know where to begin, but he ultimately launched a long story about Xander’s criminal behavior – from blood diamonds and hostages to gunshot wounds and prison escapes.
Paulina was horrified, but Abe admitted that Xander met a woman named Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) and tried to turn his life around. Unfortunately, Abe informed Paulina that Sarah left Xander for her ex-husband. Paulina thought it was even worse for Chanel to be married to a criminal on the rebound!
Abe pointed out that Xander helped find Lani Price-Grant (Sal Stowers) and Eli Grant’s (Lamon Archey) twins, but that led to the news about Xander’s baby swap connection to the doctor.
Paulina continued to reel over Xander’s shady past and felt she’d failed her daughter – that she should’ve taught Chanel to be independent instead of throwing her to the wolves.
Abe comforted Paulina and talked about how they were partners now. He handed over the contract for Paulina to sign since Abe had worked everything out with the board of appeals. Abe and Paulina ended up sharing a nice moment despite all the Chanel drama that was going on.
In Xander’s suite, he informed Chanel that she jumped to the wrong conclusion about his wealth. Xander revealed that he’d quit his CEO job – and since it was his first big executive position, it wouldn’t be so easy to get another one.
Xander confessed that his previous jobs weren’t anything that he’d want to put on a resume.
Chanel flipped out as she realized Xander was poor. She found out Xander had charmed the manageress into letting him stay at the Salem Inn, but he hadn’t paid his bill in quite some time. Xander knew he couldn’t get by with that for long.
Soon after, Chanel decided a quickie marriage deserved a quickie divorce. She refused to be saddled with a broke man she barely knows, but Xander told her to hold off on finding a divorce lawyer. Xander insisted Chanel wasn’t going to unload him that easily.
At Eli and Lani’s place, they discussed all the Chanel marriage chaos along with Lani’s updates about the twins starting to roll over. Later, Paulina showed up and needed Lani’s help with her cousin. Paulina was afraid Chanel had gotten herself into something she couldn’t get out of.
Meanwhile on Tuesday’s Days episode, Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) talked to Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) about Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) possibly being pregnant with Chad DiMera’s (Billy Flynn) child.
Steve found out that Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) would be running a blood test to confirm the pregnancy and offer proof.
Jack wanted a relationship with Gwen and was hopeful that his daughters could somehow work things out. However, Steve knew this would be difficult for Abigail and offered some advice. He felt like Jack shouldn’t push too hard.
Steve thought Gwen and Abigail had the best chance of working it out on their own.
At the hospital on Tuesday’s DOOL episode, Kayla confirmed Gwen was indeed pregnant through the blood test results. Gwen went along with Kayla’s recommendation for a sonogram, but Gwen didn’t want to see the screen.
Kayla noted that according to the calendar – at least based on Gwen’s claims – she was at 15 weeks.
After Kayla informed Gwen that everything looked normal, she admitted the baby was the modest type. That made it so Kayla couldn’t tell the baby’s gender.
Gwen changed her mind and decided she wanted to see the screen after all, which led to an emotional moment as she saw her baby for the first time.
At the DiMera mansion on Tuesday’s Days of Our Lives episode, Abigail told Chad that she urged Gwen to get an abortion. Chad felt like this had to be Gwen’s decision, but Abigail argued that it would destroy their marriage if Gwen had Chad’s baby.
Tears streamed down Abigail’s face as she talked about the reality of Chad raising a child with Gwen.
Abigail just didn’t think their marriage could survive that, but Chad got choked up and swore he wouldn’t let this baby come between them. Nevertheless, Abigail knew Chad wouldn’t abandon his child – and she acknowledged that Gwen knew that as well.
Abigail felt like Chad would always go running to be there for his child if Gwen asked, and Chad couldn’t deny that. After Abigail rushed to the hospital, she quickly tracked down Kayla. Abigail demanded to know if Gwen was pregnant and if she intended to keep the baby.
Back with Gwen on Tuesday’s Days episode, she showed up at the DiMera mansion to confirm she was pregnant with Chad’s child. Gwen admitted she’d made up her mind and was indeed going to keep her baby.
