Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Wednesday, October 20 Recap – Kayla’s Drunken Display – Steve Steals EJ’s Phone to Hunt Kristen

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Wednesday, October 20, reveals that Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) made a fake drunken display, which allowed Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) to steal EJ DiMera’s (Dan Feuerriegel) phone info to hunt Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk).

At the DiMera mansion on Wednesday’s Days episode, Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) was stunned to learn Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) had been arrested.

Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller) explained the situation and didn’t think it was that far-fetched considering Gwen told Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) she used to be a prostitute – though Abby wasn’t buying that story.

It was hard for Abigail to believe that after everything Gwen had done, being a hooker was the one thing she thought Jack couldn’t get past.

It didn’t make sense for that to be the secret, so Abigail assumed it was something far worse – a betrayal that had happened after Gwen learned Jack hadn’t really abandoned her.

Abigail wasn’t willing to let this go and had to find out what the truth was for Jack’s sake. She thought whatever Dr. Clay Snyder (Michael Lowry) had on Gwen might still be in his office, so she tried to get in touch with Kayla.

However, Abigail ultimately decided that could wait until morning and expressed her gratitude to Chad for letting her work through all the Gwen stuff.

Abby appreciated the fact that Chad really listened and thought they were starting to feel like themselves again. She thought this was starting to feel like home again, too.

In their cell, Bonnie Lockhart (Judi Evans) realized Gwen was crying, so she gave her a pep talk and had faith that Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) would come through. After a guard took Bonnie away, Jack visited Gwen on the other side of the bars.

Gwen begged Jack not to hate her, but he insisted he could never do that. He just hated that Gwen hadn’t come to him for help, but Gwen argued there had been nothing Jack could do. That said, there was something Gwen wanted Jack to do now.

After a guard took Justin out, Jack showed up with a message from Gwen to Xander.

Jack admitted that Gwen wanted to tell DA Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) that she was the one delivering drugs. That way Xander would just get a slap on the wrist for dumping the body.

Xander warned that Gwen couldn’t do that and pushed Jack to promise he wouldn’t say a word to Trask. Jack was confused over why Xander was so adamant about this.

As for Justin, he joined Bonnie in the interrogation room since he hadn’t been convicted or disbarred yet. Justin was given five minutes with Bonnie since he was technically still her lawyer.

Justin hinted that Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) was working on a plan, but he mainly wanted to discuss their relationship, not the case.

Justin assured Bonnie of his love and vowed to marry her no matter what – even if they had to do it in the Statesville cafeteria.

Bonnie got choked up over not deserving Justin before the guard came in and said time was up.

Afterward, Justin saw Jack in the main area of the police station.

Once Justin flashed back to an earlier conversation with Xander about Gwen’s lie, he told Jack it was a bad idea for Xander to change his story with Trask. It’d mean opening up a can of worms according to Justin.

Outside Nicole Walker’s (Arianne Zucker) apartment, EJ appeared and picked up the keys she dropped. He wanted a do-over date since their last one was a fiasco, so Nicole reluctantly agreed.

When Nicole suggested she should fix up first, EJ flirted by replying that nothing about Nicole needed fixing.

At Julie’s Place on Wednesday’s DOOL episode, Kayla got updates on Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) offering a handsome reward for delivering Kristen to Trask.

Steve said Victor wanted Black Patch to locate Kristen – that way Trask would drop the charges against Xander and Justin.

Kayla didn’t think it was fair for Victor to only save his own family members. Steve agreed and had a plan to save Gwen as well as Bonnie.

Kayla didn’t like the idea of Steve double-crossing Victor, but Steve insisted that Victor would still get what he wanted.

Steve explained that he would simply tell Trask that the price went up and push for the charges against Bonnie and Gwen to be dropped as well.

Kayla thought it was too dangerous to take this case since Kristen would put up a fight. “And when she fights, she kills people!” Kayla warned.

Besides, nobody had seen Kristen in months. Kayla didn’t know how Steve would find Kristen anyway, but then EJ walked in with Nicole.

Steve thought EJ might have answers since Kristen sent him a letter. That at least proved that they’d been in touch, but Kayla didn’t think EJ would turn on his sister.

Nicole, on the other hand, hated Kristen and was the one who delivered the letter to EJ. Kayla decided she would help Steve try to score information, but that meant they had to get Nicole alone.

At EJ and Nicole’s table, he apologized if he overstepped with the kiss recently. Nicole thought EJ indeed overstepped, but she admitted she didn’t try to stop him.

Although Nicole worried it was a mistake to go down this road again, EJ thought it could be fun and reminded Nicole of what a spectacular time they used to have.

Nicole suggested that if EJ bought her another martini, maybe they could talk about it. Suddenly, Kayla came over waving a glass of wine around.

Kayla put on a fake drunken display that ended with her spilling wine on EJ’s tie. Kayla told EJ to wash that off in the men’s room stat, so he headed off to clean up.

Once EJ was gone on Wednesday’s Days episode, Kayla revealed that she was sober.

Steve wanted to ask Nicole questions about Kristen, but she pointed out that the letter wasn’t in the envelope by the time she got it. There was no postmark, so Nicole didn’t know what she could do.

Steve got his hands on EJ’s phone, which he had left on the table. Nicole seemed uncomfortable, but Kayla pushed for revenge on Kristen since she once locked Nicole up and stole her life.

Nicole urged Steve to hurry, but EJ came back and wondered what was going on soon after.

Kayla offered to pay for EJ’s dry cleaning, but he said that wouldn’t be necessary. After Steve acted like he had to get Kayla home, they stepped outside.

Steve appeared to have EJ’s sim card, so he wanted to trace it, free the four prisoners he had in mind and put Kristen in jail where she belonged.

As for Nicole, she hid what had gone down and got back to her date with EJ. We’ll keep you posted as other Days news comes in.
