In tonight’s Fantasy Island episode, Christine Collins was an anchorwoman. She does early morning local news and she’s been trying to break out to one of the major channels however those places constantly want younger faces. They don’t want Christine. Christine is up there in age. She works out nonstop. She does Botox. She does everything she can to look younger and it’s never enough.

Christine ended up going off on the weatherman during a live episode because he brought in donuts. She has a rule that no one brings in the food she couldn’t eat because of her diet and so she went off. She had a full-on rant. It was caught on cameras and it was even turned into a music video. Everyone was laughing about it. Christine felt so embarrassed that she took her vacation days.

She flew to an island. An island known as Fantasy Island. The island was run by Elena Roarke and she took it over after her great uncle’s passing. Elena promised to fulfill all of Christine’s desires. Only she had just one desire. She wanted to eat and eat and not gain a single ounce.

Christine became like this because after she went on a date where she had everything she wanted she gained weight. It was so noticeable that a viewer wrote to her for the first time about it and asked her if she was okay because she thought the weight gain was a cry for help. It was the first time anyone had mentioned her weight. It was also two days after she had everything she wanted and so she’s been starving herself ever since.

Christine’s fantasy is to eat again. She wants to eat and not gain weight and so Elena promised her that she could gorge herself on the island. Christine flew over with an elderly couple. They were also staying on the island. They were Mel and Ruby Akuda. They wanted time away to forget the fact that Ruby has cancer and that she’s dying. Elena told them couldn’t give them a cure.

She did however give them their youth back. The couple went swimming in a waterfall and they were as young as when they first met. The couple went about enjoying their newfound youth again by jumping in the sack and Ruby also got to enjoy going for a run again. Her newfound knees meant she could enjoy things she hasn’t done in a while.

Christine meanwhile was eating everything she could. She enjoyed sushi from the place near the studio which was apparently too many calories back home and she was also offered a snack from her childhood. The snack had been a trick. It had forced Christine to remember and it turns out fantasy island does more than just grant fantasies. It helps people deal with past trauma.

Christine wasn’t always Christine. Her real name is Crystal Joe. She grew up in a trailer with a single mom and then one day her mom met someone. Her mom married this guy. It was this guy that first told Crystal not to stuff her face or else she’ll be a “porker” and he didn’t want a porker for a child. Landon was a horrible man.

He was the first to tell her she wasn’t beautiful. He tanked on her dreams of becoming a new reporter like Diane Sawyer and things shifted once Crystal’s mother was diagnosed with cancer. Christine went back through all these memories and asked Elena to leave her alone. She said she already had a therapist. She came to the island and not do anything else or see anything else. Elena said “okay”. But that was a lie.

Christine was visited by her former stepfather Landon. He called her by her real name and Christine ran away from him. She ran to Elena. Christine said Landon is a bad song stuck in her head and she doesn’t want him around. She escaped him. It was just the two of them after her mother died and she escaped him. She remade herself.

Elena asked her if she was sure she escaped him. It seems Christine never stopped listening to the meanness of other voices and so she never really did escape. She just found new Landons. Christine has been hungering for something she can’t name. She asked for another feast to be brought to her room and Elena agreed to it but Elena has gotten too involved with one of her client’s cases. She felt bad for Ruby Akuda.

Ruby regained her youth alongside her husband. They went partying with the other young guests and they took drugs. Her husband was off sniffing flowers while Ruby was getting close to a woman. Her husband saw the two together. He got jealous and so fantasies weren’t always the best thing for everyone.

Seeing them together, Mel remembered. Mel remembered that Ruby had a close female friend named Meredith and then one day Meredith disappeared out of their lives. It turns out Ruby is bisexual. She made her choice fifty years ago and she hasn’t regretted it.

Her husband on the other hand has always felt that his wife doesn’t love him the way he loves her. He told her how he felt when they later went to bed. He even mentioned Meredith. Mel has always felt second best and nothing Ruby said was going to change his mind. Ruby told him she loves him. It just wasn’t enough to shake his doubts and Ruby needed to make things right with him. Ruby never planned on coming back from the trip.

Ruby has already said her goodbyes. She planned on ending it all on the island and then they regained their youth. Ruby still wants to end her life. She doesn’t want to die in a hospital or after wasting away. She wants to be brave. Elena talked to her about it. Elena also talked Ruby out of killing herself and instead offered her a job. Elena needed a second.

The person who runs the island has always needed a second and Elena wanted that person to be Ruby. It would mean Ruby would get to stay on the island. She would keep her youth. It would also mean she would have to give up her life back home and her husband because he couldn’t stay. Ruby didn’t want to leave her husband but he reminded her that she was going to leave him anyways one way or another.

Mel convinced Ruby to stay. He was going to tell the kids that she passed and she couldn’t make the trip back. They said their goodbyes and Mel returned to real life while Ruby stayed behind to help run Fantasy Island.

Christine also finally satisfied her hunger. She ate her stepfather after he had been roasted on a spike and she finally felt full. Her stepfather died years ago. She had actually eaten a pig that was made to look like her stepfather and so that helped Christine. She was able to put his meanness behind her. She later told Elena that now she plans on being happy in real life and not just on tv. She was going to invite women from the station to the sushi place and they were going to eat until they were full.

THE END!
