In tonight’s episode of FBI, someone planted a car bomb. The car bomb was pinned to a car that was airing an anti-capitalistic message and the message played over and over again until the bomber detonated the bomb. Three people were killed and they could have been targets.

Mike Heller worked in Real Estate. Janet White was a Nurse. Benjamin Lopez was a law student. The three victims were all different races with different backgrounds and so they could have been targeted however odds are the three were in the wrong place at the wrong time. The FBI was called in for this case and they found a suspect fairly fast. They found a Nicholas Katz. Katz was loitering in the neighborhood and he sent a text moments before the bomb went off.

Katz was a political science professor at the New School. He was a radical liberal and so the team came to suspect he detonated the bomb to prove a message. They later hit his apartment. They found him listening to music and Katz had been scared to see them. Only that was typical fear.

Katz was scared the way anyone would be if someone came bursting through their door and he wasn’t their terrorist. Katz had been waiting in the neighborhood for his ex-girlfriend. They were supposed to meet for dinner and she never showed. He sent her a text he was leaving. He then turned around when he saw a suspicious man in the neighborhood and that man went running once the bomb went off.

Katz hadn’t said anything or reported it because the man that went running was Muslim. Katz said he hadn’t wanted to contribute to Anti-Muslim hate and he was only mentioning it now to get himself out of trouble. The team went looking for this mystery man.

They thought they found him in security footage and instead they found Salem. Salem had boosted the car. He sold the car to a man he says looks like a Muslim only he couldn’t tell for sure and so the team asked him where he delivered the car. He gave them an address. He also told them that he grabbed food from a nearby Muslim restaurant and this restaurant was on the watchlist. The owner of the restaurant was someone that the feds have been watching for a while now.

The feds even have an inside guy. Vega Assad lives in the neighborhood and he knows the owner of the restaurant. The feds have him because Vega is in the country illegally. He was originally from Syria and he hasn’t delivered on his end. He hasn’t given the feds any big tip. They were thinking of deporting him if he didn’t help and so this case gave Vega an opportunity.

It was his last chance at staying in the country. They thought Vega would be pleased and he was anything but. Vega hates being an informant. He feels like a traitor to his own people and so he doesn’t understand how OA could do this job. He called OA a traitor. OA was a Muslim man who worked with the feds to investigate other Muslims and so Vega doesn’t see the good that OA does.

Vega doesn’t see how the people in the neighborhood will be fine if they were innocent. All he sees is an “us” and a “them”. Vega had to be convinced to help by his lawyer. His lawyer just happened to be dating OA. OA’s girlfriend Mona Nazari left the District Attorney’s Office to join a smaller firm and now she’s representing people like Vega.

Vega had stolen items from a 7/Eleven and that’s what got him into trouble. He’s now on the hook for whatever the cops or the feds wanted. Vega has to do what they say or he gets deported. He hadn’t liked that. He hadn’t liked spying and, even after he had been convinced, he was still reluctant. Vega wore a wire. He went into the restaurant under suspicion and he met with the owner. He met with Hassan.

Hassan had liked Vega. The two men talked about their shared experience of being profiled and Hassan even admitted to Vega that he had wired his whole restaurant with advanced security. Hassan hadn’t been able to finish his conversation with Vega because he had gotten called away. However, Vega used that chance to leave the restaurant and he told the feds that he wasn’t going to help them anymore.

He said he considered suicide in order to get out of his deal with them. Vega also added how willing he was to be deported back to Syria and the civil war. He wasn’t going to keep watch over Hassan. He told OA and Maggie that he was out and so OA chose to cover for him. He passed on the information that Hassan has an advanced security system and he made it look like a tip from Vega.

The only one who knew the truth was Maggie. Maggie chose to cover for her partner and so the team made sure to get their hands on those security feeds. It turns out the footage revealed the real bomber and he wasn’t Muslim. He was a white dude. He lost his job, his marriage, and his kids because he had something of a breakdown during the lockdown. Phillip Stafford was his name.

He has curly dark hair and a beard and that’s how people came to mistake him as being a Muslim man when he wasn’t. He was just white. He blamed the whole world for his life imploding and so that’s why he started planting the bomb. The feds tried to use his ex-wife into luring him into a trap, but Phillip saw through that and he gave a man his valuables to pass on a message to her.

The message blamed her for everything. It also talked about how rigged the system is and so the feds rushed to find him before he could snap. They found him outside of the place he was staying. He had a gun and he threatened to turn it on his nephews. So, Stuart was forced to shoot him. It brought the case to a quick close and things should have ended there except they didn’t.

OA’s bosses found out about Vega pulling out. Vega did this after they stopped him from being deported and they had even gotten him a job. If he wants to be ungrateful, he can be deported. OA and Maggie went sent to go arrest Vega and now he gets what he wanted. He gets to go home to Syria.

THE END!
