FBI Recap 05/18/21: Season 3 Episode 14 "Trigger Effect"

In tonight’s FBI episode a mother and her son James eat at a cafe. A suspect comes in and starts shooting. James is gunned down.

Jubal gets his team moving on a new active shooter case. Scola and Tiffany update OA and Maggie on the scene. OA and Bell talk to an employee who tells them he tried to stop the shooters. He managed to see one man, white, military in appearance. Jubal updates the team. They also look over the street video footage.

OA and the team are sent to a hotel. They immediately find a person of interest. He shares that he has a gun but no permit and was trying to help. He ran after. His story checks out. They head back to the scene and look for more video footage. Maggie asks Elise, one of Jubal’s team members to get more footage. She asks strangely.

The team listens to some more audio and discovers this was an executed gone wrong of sorts. They hear the suspect yell at a Frank, a victim. They head to speak with his wife. She mentions an angry ex-client. Frank had a restraint order against him. The team heads to get the man, Neil Jacobs. He tells them he had nothing to do with Frank and was at the law library. His story checks out.

The team gets another tip. Elise sends OA and Maggie to the wrong location. They head to the right one on foot when shots ring out. A man has been shot in the arm trying to help a woman who has been abducted by a man.

They learn their new victim is named Maria. Sh built a platform to call out dirtbags. She didn’t however, make sure she had protection. OA and Maggie head to her office. OA wants to know why Maggie didn’t report Elise and her mistake. Meanwhile, Jubal’s team gets a call from Maria herself. She is the trunk of a car. They promise to help her.

OA and Maggie arrive at Maria’s after tracking her to her home. They find her inside, dead with a gunshot wound to the chest. They get back to work. It appears someone wanted their suspect to appear to be a pedophile. They head to speak with his wife.

Maggie confronts Elise. She tells her she has had some anxiety and is on medication now. Maggie urges her to get help.

OA and Maggie meet with the wife. She tells them she too thought maybe her husband was also a pedophile. They confirm the photos of their suspect on the web are fake.

Jubal and the team’s investigation comes full circle back to Neil Jacobs. He made several complaints about their suspect as they worked together. The team heads to his home. There is a shooting in progress. They spot their suspect but he gets away. Elise calls them with a tip that contradicts police information relayed.

OA and Maggie manage to come upon their suspect who has a hostage. He is at his kid’s school. They try to get his son to help but he refuses. They go with a sniper instead. Maggie tries to talk the suspect down. She physically enters the building. He lets the hostage go. The suspect threatens to kill himself. Maggie takes him down.

The team heads for drinks while Maggie heads to see Elise. Maggie tells her she has to talk to Jubal or she will. Maggie explains that she had been there. Elise walks away. She heads to Jubal’s office.
