General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) may fight to stop Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy) and Marshall Ashford’s (Robert Gossett) blooming love. Curtis may think this romance is too risky for the grieving widow, so let’s talk about how things might play out.
For starters, we should acknowledge there are some good reasons why GH killed Lenny Caulfield (Rif Hutton) off. That led Phyllis down the path of moving to Port Charles and becoming more of a mainstay on the show.
Now Phyllis is managing Charlie’s Pub and trying to work through her grief over losing her husband. Of course, no one is ever allowed to mourn for long on a soap!
That brings us to another benefit of Lenny’s deadly exit since it frees Phyllis up for a new love story. Marshall seems like he’d make an intriguing match for Phyllis, so they may catch each other’s eye soon enough.
However, Curtis is quite wary of Marshall and surely won’t want a vulnerable widow falling prey to his manipulation. There’s just no trust between Marshall and Curtis yet, so Curtis may try to shut down any romantic pursuit if Marshall gets too interested in Phyllis. There could be some lingering mob danger that Curtis wants to help Phyllis avoid as well.
Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), on the other hand, could feel somewhat torn if Phyllis starts falling for someone new. She should like the idea of Phyllis moving beyond her sadness over the loss of Lenny and finding happiness again. At the same time, Nina may fear Curtis is right to worry about Phyllis and what’s at stake in Marshall’s perilous orbit.
General Hospital spoilers say Phyllis will need another love interest eventually, so Marshall seems like a great fit. Will Curtis be able to get on board or at least let Phyllis find love again without interference? Will Nina support Phyllis, back Curtis up or struggle to pick a firm side?
