General Hospital Spoilers: Jonathan Jackson Opens Up About GH Role – Will Lucky Spencer Return?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky Spencer) recently opened up about his experience at the ABC soap. In SOD’s new podcast, Jackson was a special guest and took some time to reflect on his role as Lucky on GH.

Jackson shared plenty of memories, but could he return to General Hospital someday? Let’s look at what Jackson had to say during his interview.

For starters, Jackson discussed the casting process and how he was up for a primetime role at the same time. His parents gave him the choice of which role he wanted to take, so he mulled it over and ultimately picked General Hospital.

Jackson was grateful for the choice he made since the primetime show only lasted about six episodes.

Of course, Jackson had to acknowledge the connections he made and mentors he found at GH. He discussed his relationships with Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), Steve Burton (Jason Morgan), Genie Francis (Laura Collins) and Tony Geary (ex-Luke Spencer).

Jackson definitely valued the people he met and lessons he learned while working on General Hospital.

Due to the difficult shooting schedule and the desire to do new things, Jackson made the decision to leave in 1999. However, he never considered that decision to be a final one.

Jackson wanted to do some other roles and recover a bit through his time off, but he knew he’d be drawn back to General Hospital as this huge foundation in his life.

“I always had it in my mind when I left, even in 1999, that I wanted to be able to come back,” Jackson said. “I always wanted to be able to come back and work on GH from time to time.”

Jackson thought it was a “profound gift” to return for another stint 10 years later and work with many of the same people he worked with before. Although Jackson battled some nerves when he stepped back in the role of Lucky, it only took him about four days to adjust.

Jackson left again due to the grueling schedule, but he pointed out GH would always hold a special place in his heart. He talked about being moved by all the messages he still receives asking if he might come back to the show, so he suggested that “we’ll see!”

You never know what might happen down the road, especially since Jackson might be on board for some shorter stints or a guest appearance here and there. As other GH news becomes available, we’ll bring you updates.
