General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) will be forced to make some difficult decisions in the coming weeks. There’ll be some especially heartbreaking choices along the way – and one of them might mark the end of Carly’s hope for Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) return.
Carly’s trying to stay calm and have faith that Sonny will come back to her, but that faith could fade over time. That’s especially true if Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) manipulates the situation to offer more concrete evidence on Sonny’s fate.
Regardless, the cops will fill Carly and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) in on some big news regarding Sonny’s fate – and it could mean a tough blow for the Corinthos clan. Since it looks like Jason and Carly will receive word on Sonny’s presumed death, we have to think about how they might handle that.
Sonny is a huge deal in Port Charles! He’s not someone like Dev Cerci (Ashton Arbab) aka “Dev Corbin” or Dustin Phillips (Mark Lawson). Onscreen funerals for Dev and Dustin could be skipped since they honestly weren’t that significant in the grand scheme of things.
Sonny, on the other hand, is a character of extreme importance. If Sonny’s family faces proof from the authorities that he’s gone for good, how can GH writers skip the funeral? They didn’t skip Marcus Taggert’s (Réal Andrews) memorial service despite the fact that he wasn’t actually dead and would eventually be back.
It just seems like Sonny will need to have some sort of funeral or memorial service as well. General Hospital spoilers say Carly may be forced to give up on her husband and say goodbye in this way. It could really take a toll on Carly and perhaps leave her with a dangerous mindset.
Carly’s already making moves that Sonny wouldn’t approve of, but she might make even more once she’s distraught and making decisions based on grief. Likewise, a funeral could bring the harsh reality of mob life for several characters connected to Sonny.
Jason may see just how right Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) was to pull away. This could even affect Michael Corinthos’ (Chad Duell) relationship with Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen).
It might also affect Josslyn Jacks’ (Eden McCoy) overall view of the life she’s living. Sonny’s funeral could be a wake-up call for those tied to him, so it’s worth considering the possibility that one will indeed happen.
Of course, that could just make it even more satisfying once Sonny returns from the “dead.” General Hospital spoilers say Sonny will be back down the road, so this could be a good fake-out tactic to provide some drama in the meantime.
