General Hospital Spoilers: Sonny’s New Right-Hand Man – Drew or Brando Replaces Jason Morgan?

general hospital spoilers brando and drew cain

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Steve Burton’s (Jason Morgan) exit brings the question of who should replace Jason as Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) right-hand man. Is Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) or Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) best for the job?

Now that Jason has been presumed dead, it’s time to start thinking about what’s ahead. It’s possible Jason will return somewhere down the line, but Steve Burton only seems interested if the vaccine mandate is lifted. With that in mind, we have to prepare for Port Charles to be Jason-less for the foreseeable future.

Of course, Sonny’s going to need someone he can call on whenever a crisis arises. When Sonny and Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) said jump, Jason asked how high! There was nothing Jason wouldn’t do for Carly and Sonny, especially if danger was involved.

Sonny is a mob boss and will have other threats to conquer as stories come and go. Who will slide in Jason’s spot and help Sonny tackle the storms that’ll keep heading his way? Two options immediately come to mind, but they both come with pros and cons.

For starters, there’s Drew. The show has already had Drew in action hero mode for his reintroduction, so he’d be a good fill-in candidate for Jason. Drew used to work for Sonny back when he thought he was Jason anyway, so General Hospital might make him the one who helps Sonny and the Corinthos clan when it counts.

Drew will find himself on some new missions in the coming weeks, so there are signs that he’ll continue to be a “take action” kind of guy. However, some fans would rather see Drew steer clear of anything mob-related since Drew walked away from that life.

That’s especially true since Drew and Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) might be poised for a reunion eventually. Sam doesn’t want her partner caught up in all that, so that’s something to consider when planning Drew’s future.

Even so, it may be tough for GH to avoid the temptation to make Drew the new star since Cameron Mathison was a pretty big hire for them. On the other hand, there’s the potential for Brando to lead the charge in the aftermath of Jason’s exit.

If Brando’s baby doesn’t survive, it could lead to him creating a very different vision for what’s next. Brando might gain a “nothing left to lose” mentality if his family dreams go up in smoke.

GH fans will recall how Brando debuted with plenty of action scenes and saved Carly’s life. There’s a chance they may lean back into that angle and let Brando join the mob life that Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs) was previously pressuring him into.

Regardless, it seems like the show will have to go with one or the other! Sonny still needs a right-hand man, so who will take the reins now that Sonny’s gone? Will it be Drew or Brando?
