General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Steve Burton is set to leave GH and his exit as Jason Morgan has already been filmed according to reliable inside sources. Let’s talk about Jason’s upcoming departure and what it means for the future of the ABC soap.
Following the news of the vaccine mandate, buzz started growing about the exit of both Burton and Ingo Rademacher as Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher). Now Rademacher’s departure has become official – and Burton’s will follow soon based on inside reports.
Of course, this makes perfect sense considering Steve Burton could come right out and dismiss the exit news if it weren’t true.
Burton could easily announce that he’s sticking around as Jason Morgan, but he refuses to do that – and it’s because he’s already shot his final scenes.
Again, multiple insiders are certain that Jason has wrapped up his stint and filmed a brief exit to conclude Jason’s story. That lets us know the role won’t be recast right now, though you never know what might happen down the road.
There’s no word on how the show’s writing Jason out, but it’s doubtful they’ll go with any fate that’s too permanent. It’d be better to keep the door open for Jason’s return someday, but we’ll see how things play out.
Regardless, Jason’s exit will leave an action-hero hole – though Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) can perhaps step up in his twin brother’s place.
Once Drew breaks his conditioning and returns to Port Charles, maybe he can be the one who comes through for people like Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and anyone else in need.
As for Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), she’ll once again find herself without a love interest.
Many Jason and Britt fans were hopeful about the pair’s reunion, but any future they might’ve had will be cut short. Britt will have to find someone else to build a life with, so it’ll be interesting to see who she turns to.
