General Hospital Spoilers: Week of August 23 Update – Obrecht is Nina’s Secret Weapon – Cyrus Haunts Laura – Liz Reignites GH War

General Hospital (GH) spoilers update for the week of August 23-27 teases that Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) will be Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) secret weapon – and Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) will haunt Laura Collins (Genie Francis). Elizabeth “Liz” Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) will also reignite a GH war, so there’ll be some tense moments coming up in the week ahead.

In Nixon Falls, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) will know she needs to convince Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) to leave immediately. Maxie will voice her confusion when Nina tries to hustle her out the door.

Maxie will want an opportunity to catch up with Nina and meet this mysterious bartender who’s captured her heart, but Nina will insist this isn’t a good time.

No matter how things play out with Maxie, Nina will have another problem on her hands soon after. A different unwanted guest will appear at The Tan-O by midweek, so Nina will feel like the walls are closing in.

Whether it’s Ava Jerome (Maura West) or another character who’ll come bopping in the bar, Nina’s going to need some emergency assistance.

Sonny will feel like he’s made a new friend, so there’ll indeed be someone he chats up – and that’s bound to make Nina nervous.

Nina will send out an SOS call and gain Liesl as a secret weapon to cover her tracks.

As for Maxie, she’ll deal with the pain of reuniting with “Bailey Quartermaine” aka Louise August (Harper and Scarlett Bloom) – but only from afar at first.

Maxie will have to watch Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) play the role of doting papa right in front of her, so that’ll leave her down in the dumps.

Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) will run into Maxie and seem interested in her well-being, so Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) will wonder what’s going on between those two.

Nothing is going on just yet, but how would Austin feel about dating Maxie? Scott may put Austin on the spot and try to nail down what kind of relationship the doc’s looking for.

Austin will also shut down any negotiations Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) tries to make and count on the document Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) found to help him get what he really wants.

Look for Austin to treat Leo Falconeri (Aaron Bradshaw) when Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) brings him to the hospital with a cut finger.

Austin’s behavior will leave Ned a tad unsettled, so he’ll be curious about Austin – who’ll be revealed as a pediatrician.

As for Liz, she’ll accidentally create more drama between Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) and Terry Randolph (Cassandra James). Terry and Britt’s recent progress will be blown – at least temporarily.

Terry and Britt have been trying to get along as the hospital’s co-chiefs of staff, but they’ll have more work to do if they want to be a real leadership team.

It looks like Cyrus will also come back to haunt Laura in a way. Laura could use an exit excuse since Genie Francis is taking a well-deserved break from the show.

It’s just for the summer, but Laura still needs a story to explain why she’ll suddenly head off canvas.

Having Cyrus loom as a threat either in prison or on the run seems like a good strategy.

Laura isn’t one to back down from a fight in most cases, but Jordan Ashford (Briana Nicole Henry) will convince her that the danger is imminent and real. It should lead to Laura packing her bags and staying elsewhere for a while.

While Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) gets ready to admit the truth to Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard), Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) will do a little more wedding planning.

Carly will also do her best to keep the peace with Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher), but there’ll still be some serious strain between them.

Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) will envision her future, so will Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) be someone Sam imagines building a life with?

Could Sam let her mind wander to Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and what might happen once he’s found alive?

A Drew and Sam romantic reunion seems inevitable down the road, but Drew has to be found first.

Drew will run into more problems in captivity, but he’ll hope Sam heard enough to come to his rescue – and GH fans know she did!

General Hospital spoilers for the week of August 23-27 will come with some highs and lows for several characters, so stay tuned.
