In tonight’s I Love a Mama’s Boy episode, Stephanie was given a great job offer in California at the start of the pandemic. She had wanted to take the job and the only thing stopping her was her boyfriend Mike. Mike and Stephanie have been together for three years. Living together for two. Mike agreed to move with Stephanie and they were going to right up until his mother voiced her opinion.

Mike’s mom didn’t want to lose him. She complained about how she’d be all on her own and that she was losing someone she loves. She basically threw down a heavy dose of guilt trip. She reminded him since his father died when he was young that it’s been pretty much just the two of them and so Mike chose to stay with his mom and Stephanie went with him. Stephanie and Mike later got a new apartment. Stephanie wanted to decorate only no one was asking her for her thoughts.

Mike’s mother Liz wanted to decorate everything. She also was very passive-aggressive to Stephanie and the only one who doesn’t see it is Mike. Mike would have proposed to Stephanie by now if it hadn’t been for his mother. Everyone knew this. Stephanie brought it up to Mike and he tried to deny it, but it wasn’t working because that was the truth and again everyone knew it.

Mike was torn between his mother and his girlfriend. Both women love him. They both want the best for him and they happen to disagree on what that is. His mother thinks she’s the best thing for him because she helps him all the time. She cleans the apartment for him. She tries to sneak in as many digs against Stephanie as she can and, for her part, Stephanie remains an adult.

Stephanie doesn’t sink to the other woman’s level. Most of the girls and wives try to be courteous to the mother. Only it doesn’t always work out. Emily went to Shekeb’s home and she met up with his mother. She tried to get Laila to apologize to her for her earlier comments and actions. Like how she tried to set Shekeb on a blind date when he was introducing Emily to her in an official capacity.

Laila was downright cruel to Emily and she never apologized for it back then and she’s refusing to do so now. Laila said it was in his past. She told Emily that she should move on and Emily couldn’t. Emily was disrespected. She was kicked out of the house at one point and even accused of poisoning Laila with a birthday cake.

Emily would like an apology. She thought that was the only way they could move on and Laila refused to apologize. Emily’s next option at getting respect is for Shekeb to speak up for her. She later met with him and she told him that he needs his own place. He needs to know if he wants to marry her or not. He also has to tell Laila that he’s serious about her.

Emily didn’t want to waste time. She wanted to know if she either has a future with Shekeb or she doesn’t. Emily said as much to Shekeb and he freaked out at the idea of marriage. He wasn’t ready to get married. He wasn’t ready to commit Emily and that’s a problem because Emily doesn’t think Laila will respect her until she has a ring on her finger.

Then there’s Bryan and Tracey. The two of them were recently married and they were about to take their honeymoon. Bryan had invited his mother on the honeymoon. He told everyone at the wedding reception before he told his new bride and she had been upset. She doesn’t want his mother coming with them on their honeymoon. She wants it to be just the two of them.

Tracey wants to take this time to relax without kids with the man she loves and he was ruining it by inviting his mother. He originally said he invited his mother because he claimed they would need someone to watch the kids while they went out at night. Only Tracey wanted it to be just the two of them. She also didn’t want to make big decisions on his own or without asking her.

Tracey told Bryan to disinvite his mother. He later tried to do that and unfortunately, his mother refused to take the hint. She said she could help with the kids. She also said she could travel anywhere and that she was interested in where they were going. Jayne refuses to bow out gracefully. She kept repeating she would go with them wherever they wanted and so she failed to see that they wanted to be wherever she wasn’t.

Another mom who refuses to take a risk is Liz. Liz went with Mike and Stephanie to a furniture store to look at sofas. Liz ran everything. She refuses to let Stephanie have a word in the decision-making. She also repeated how much she’ll come over now that their new apartment was within walking distance from her place. And so it was like Stephanie wasn’t really there.

Kim was offered a new and wonderful job opportunity. She was offered a job in Austin, Texas and it was going to be a year. Kim hasn’t told her fiancé about it. She was afraid to tell Mama’s boy that they have to move because she wasn’t sure if he would leave his mother for that long or that his mom would even let him go.

Then there’s Stephanie who gave up so much to be Mike yet every fight ends in him reminding her that their new apartment is in his name and not their name.

THE END!
