In tonight’s Prodigal Son episode, Dr. Vivian Capshaw is a sociopath. She believes she’s the only one who can understand the known serial killer Martin Whitly because she’s done horrible things to people as well and so she kidnapped him. She held him hostage. She tried to convince him that he loved her and she failed to realize he’s incapable of love. Martin doesn’t love anyone. He pretends to love them as he does disastrous things and he only takes pride in his children for that matter when they kill someone or cover up a murder.

He doesn’t really care about them. He didn’t even care about his ex-wife. Jessica knows that Martin is a monster and that’s why she didn’t save him when she had the chance. She was home when he called begging for help. He told her he was being held hostage and then Vivian grabbed the phone. And Vivian told Jessica not to say anything because she would deal with Martin.

Jessica had believed that Vivian would kill Martin. It’s what would happen naturally once she realized that Martin couldn’t love her and so Jessica didn’t say anything because she wants Martin dead. She blames him for how messed up their children are. Jessica, therefore, surprised to hear Martin wasn’t dead. He was alive and on the run with their son. Or at least that’s the story Vivian is telling and so now Jessica wants to tell the truth.

She went to Gil. She told him that Vivian had taken Martin hostage and he told her it’s too late, to tell the truth. No one would believe her. They would think she was trying to cover for her son and that meant she and Gil and Dany would have to find another way to take down Vivian. They also needed to find Malcolm. Malcolm was being painted as Martin’s accomplice in the media.

No one knew his father kidnapped while he was unconscious. Malcolm woke up in a dingy motel room with his father standing over him and what was going on. Martin explained he saved his life. Vivian had almost killed Malcolm by experimenting on him and so Martin had to save him. He kidnapped his son. He brought him to a little town that’s being plagued by a serial killer.

Martin brought Malcolm there because he thought he and Malcolm would work the case together as they do back in New York. Martin wanted to “bond” with his son. He wanted to convince Malcolm that he needs him and that he’s a changed man. He was no longer the ruthless serial killer known as the Surgeon. He was now the man who helps take down other serial killers and the serial killer they were after this time was known as the Woodsman.

The Woodsman was a serial killer. He hunts and murders women. He takes them into the woods. He kills them and then he leaves a sapling on their chest to indicate he’s put down roots. Martin claimed he was ready to change and he said they could take down the Woodsman together. Malcolm, for some reason, believes him. He wanted to think his father changed for the better and so he agreed to work the case with him.

The Woodsman left letters he’s written to the police. Malcolm and Martin read them together. They soon realized that the Woodsman was police because of the jargon he used. Malcolm didn’t quite trust his father to interrogate suspects and so he visited the local police station by himself. He introduced himself as someone who works with NYPD. He met the Chief of police and she introduced him around.

Malcolm met a man whose been at three of the Woodsman’s murder scenes. He apparently worked with several local police stations in the area and Malcolm thought that was highly suspicious. He was about to ask questions when his father called the station asking for him. Martin saw the news and he found out what Vivian was saying. Vivian convinced everyone that Malcolm found out Martin took her hostage and he chose to help his father.

She even convinced JT with her story. The only one who wasn’t buying it as Dany, Gil, and Jessica. They all knew the truth and they arranged things with Jessica to take down Vivian. They had Jessica call Vivian over for drinks. The two women were going to talk about Martin. Jessica also pretended not to see Vivian drug her with the valium and so it’s a good thing Jessica built up a tolerance of the pill.

Jessica pretended to be woozy on her feet as Vivian confessed to everything. She confessed to torturing both Martin and Malcolm. She also wanted to kill Jessica because she still thinks there’s a future for her and Martin. Vivian likes that he’s a serial killer. She called him brilliant and she considers herself to be his perfect match. She also wanted to kill Jessica because a part of her was still upset that Martin chose Jessica.

He had children with her and he was known to work with Jessica. Jessica hated his guts but that didn’t stop her from working with him if it involved their children. She was also able to fight off the valium. She and Vivian fought and she was actually kicking butt when Gil broke up the fight. He got the confession. They can prove that Vivian lied about everything.

Their next concern was in finding Martin and Malcolm. This is where Ainsley came in. Ainsley found out that her father was looking into the Woodsman before he did a runner and so she told Malcolm’s team about it. She also traveled with both JT and Dany to Vermont to the Woodsman’s hunting grounds. It didn’t take them long to realize that the sheriff was lying to them.

They managed to panic her by their unexpected visit to the area and she tried to take them, hostage, when she failed. They instead arrested her. They questioned her about her connection to the Woodsman. She was apparently married to him. She told her husband about Malcolm coming to the station and the man that Malcolm suspected was in fact innocent. And so that deputy had been killed by the real serial killer.

Mr. Cooly then grabbed both Martin and Malcolm. He took them to his hunting spot. He was going to kill them when they escaped their restraints and they demanded to know where the woman that the Woodsman grabbed. They knew he had his next victim waiting. Both men wanted to save her life and so they did something radical. Malcolm let his father torture Cooly to get information. It worked and they saved a life that day. And once they had finished, Malcolm called it in.

Malcolm reported that he had found the victim as well as the Woodman but his father freaked once he realized Malcolm was bringing him in and he ran off and Malcolm ran after him.

Martin had proved when he so willing to torture another human being that he had not changed and so he had tried killing Malcolm only Malcolm stabbed him first.

And after Malcolm did that, Martin took it as reassurances that he was right when he said he and Malcolm were the same.

THE END!
