In tonight’s S.W.A.T. episode, Emergency services were called. They were called about an odd case. Some guy broke into a stranger’s house with a gun. The guy was clearly on something. He began shooting up the place and so someone inside called 911. They said all of this when they were phone. SWAT was given this case and they quickly moved to action. But the case in fact a lot odder than they thought.

They were shot at and so they swarmed in to find that there wasn’t some stranger in the house. The phone call to them was hoax. It was a hoax pulled on a famous black man and his wife. It was clear what the intent was. The intent was to kill this former pro football player and that’s why they warned him to tell him they were coming to kill him because they knew he would try to defend himself and whoever was harassing was hoping that the cops would see them as a threat.

Everyone saw what happened as the assassination attempt it was. Hicks even reported it this way to his bosses and so the police commissioner was now of the same opinion. Someone was trying to kill Derrick Nichols. Nichols was asked about enemies. He admitted that he received plenty of hate mail because of the plays he made, but most of it has calmed down since his retired and so nowadays the only hate mail he receives is from the old neighborhood.

Nichols never gave anyone a handout. He figured if he started that ten more would show up at his door and so he has remained firm on not giving anyone a handout and that in turn has created enemies. People hate him. He’s a wealthy man and there were some haters out there.

Nichols’s wife’s gave them letters from the old neighborhood. They followed up by reaching out to a few people and one of them pointed the LAPD to a forum online full of Nichols’s haters. There was even a message from someone using the same means to disguise his voice from the earlier threatening call and so the team knew he was dangerous. The guy who “swatted” Nichols had said he wasn’t going to stop.

He wasn’t going to stop until Nichols was dead. The team took the threat seriously and they asked the detail on Nichols to keep an eye out. But then this random big dude showed up threatening to kill Nichols. The police stopped him and Luca and Tan later questioned him. The guy was a football player.

He used to work with Nichols. He just found out that Nichols was sleeping with his wife and it was out there. The person whose been actually trying to kill the man – first by swatting and now by revealing his affair in the hopes an angry husband kills him – is smart. He’s been following Nichols.

He knows Nichols. Nichols didn’t know who this person was. Neither he nor his ever present manager knew who wanted Nichols dead and was doing everything in their power to do so. Hondo was also upset. Hondo had asked Nichols when they first began their investigation who would want him dead and he never mentioned his affair. Then again Hondo asked Nichols this question in front of his wife and that’s why Nichols lied.

Nichols was a different man when he played football. He got used to the groupies and took advantage of it but he realizes now that he doesn’t want anyone other than his wife and so at first he ignored her messages when it came out he cheated on her. He was afraid of what she might say. Hondo reassured him that if he apologizes and meant it that he could still save his marriage. Nichols went to a corner to listen to the message and then he disappeared. He left the station. He didn’t leave with his protection detail or informed anyone why he was leaving. His manager tried to call him and when that didn’t work he then accessed Nichols’s voicemail. He overheard the call that Nichols last received.

Nichols’s wife Carolyn had been kidnapped. The person or people who have her had told him to come and come alone and like a fool Nichols fell for it. Nichols went to meet the people who took his wife. But Hondo and his team found out who was behind the threats on Nichols’s life. They found out that Nichols recently pulled out of a deal that would have paid a man by the name of Sam Greer sixty million dollars. It was a business deal. Nichols hadn’t thought Greer was upset and so he suspected that Greer was sleeping with his wife. His was never kidnapped. Carolyn and Greer were working together to take out Nichols because they wanted to get their hands on his massive fortune and that was the only way to do it.

See, a divorce would probably earn Carolyn half of her former husband’s assets. The greedy trick wanted all of his assets and to not be married to him anymore. She started an affair with Greer thinking they were in love but Greer turned on her the moment the police arrived. He knocked her down in order to get his hands on Nichols and so the team was forced to take him out. They killed Greer. They saved Nichols’s life. Nichols will be getting a divorce now but at least he’s alive and no one will be trying to kill him.

Hondo went against Sanchez in the field and so that was strike two. Another strike and he will have to face a disciplinary hearing. But team was behind him. They fully supported him and, while Deac took time to close a cold case for Hicks, he still came back to be there for Hondo when he was needed.

THE END!
