The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) and Dina Mergeron’s (Marla Adams) old fling may be revealed. Did a young Locke get together with Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) mom in Paris? Let’s mull over some intriguing clues and talk about what’s next in Ashland’s storyline.
In the August 24 episode, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) talks about an intriguing piece of new information he’s uncovered. According to one of Billy’s reporters, Ashland was connected to a wealthy older woman when he was in his 20s.
Of course, that means fans will eventually find out the identity of this mysterious woman – that it makes sense for it to be Dina.
The August 24 episode also features Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) letting Jack read the first few pages of her latest book, which is a fictional account of Dina’s early days in Paris.
Why bring up Dina and her time in Paris on the same day as they’re making this connection between 20-something Ashland and an older woman? It could be because the stories are linked.
When you consider the ages of the actors – and most likely the characters as a result – Dina would’ve been in her 40s when Ashland was in his 20s.
That lines right up with the story Billy’s come up with and would explain a few things regarding Ashland’s history with John Abbott (Jerry Douglas).
Jack has talked about Ashland and John’s old rivalry before – along with the fact that Ashland ultimately didn’t strike the vengeful blow he could have after his business plan was foiled.
Perhaps that was at Dina’s request or at least a decision made because Ashland was already hooking up with John’s former flame.
Then again, seducing Dina might’ve been Ashland’s revenge in the end!
Jack has always struggled with abandonment issues, so imagine his shock along with Traci and Ashley Abbott’s (Eileen Davidson) if Ashland was part of what kept Dina away.
Dina and Ashland might’ve had a fling in Paris – maybe even one that involved Ashland manipulating Jack’s mother or trying to swindle her in some way.
Regardless, Dina could easily be the mysterious older woman that Ashland was somehow involved with as a young man.
