The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) media leak could raise the stakes, so Sally Spectra’s (Courtney Hope) videos could blow up the story and turn this into a very public spectacle. Billy actually wants the false narrative of his downfall to gain traction, but that plan could end in disaster.
Y&R fans know Billy surprised Victoria Newman-Locke (Amelia Heinle) by agreeing with her decision to send the kids to boarding school.
Although Billy’s only pretending to spiral out of control at this point, it’s not a good idea for Johnny Abbott (Holden and Ryan Hare) and Katie Abbott (Sienna Mercuri) to witness it.
In fact, Billy called the headmaster himself to make sure everything was all squared away. That led to a hint about what’s next.
Billy suggested that the kids were part of two influential families, so they’ve always taken steps to shield them from the media.
That’s definitely something Billy wants for his kids while they’re at boarding school.
Billy would hate for Katie and Johnny to stumble across any negative news about the Abbotts or Newmans, so he really drove that point home with the headmaster.
Billy’s expecting a media blowup soon – one that could dramatically affect the kids if they were to see it. He might even set something in motion that intentionally leads to Sally’s videos going public.
On December 20, Billy will admit his goal is for Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) to take the bait.
Bill will hope he can file a lawsuit of his own after Victor and Adam publish a bogus story about his tragic downfall.
The worse Billy’s situation looks, the better the outcome will be from his perspective.
Billy will continue to believe he’s got a tight grip on all this, but that may not be true if the crisis turns into a media nightmare.
There’s no guarantee Katie and Johnny will truly be protected since negative news could slip through the cracks.
This could also affect Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) who’s just settling into her role as the new head of Chancellor Industries.
Having Billy’s screwups on full display could be hard on Lily, even though she claims to be on board. Billy’s really pushing his limits here, so there’s the potential for some serious trouble.
It may be tough for Billy to prove he was faking it – and there’s even a chance he’ll backslide so that he’s not faking at all down the road.
There are so many ways this could go wrong and further damage Billy’s reputation instead of repairing it.
Billy may give Victor and Adam a nudge toward the outcome he has in mind – perhaps through a hacking that sends the videos public and forces them to cover the story sooner than planned. Then again, there may be some other strategy that results in the initial media blowup.
