The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind) may soon be going down a slippery slope where alcohol is concerned. As Y&R viewers know, Faith has drunk on a couple of occasions with her friend Jordan (Madison Thompson), and she drank enough to cause serious hangovers the next day.
And recently, Faith stole some vodka from Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) home bar, so that she and Jordan could party later.
Of course, a couple partying episodes here and there doesn’t necessarily mean that Faith is going to develop a full-fledged drinking problem, but there are some signs that Faith could be going down a very troubling road.
First off, Faith isn’t just succumbing to peer pressure here – she also seems to be using alcohol to cope with all of the horrible things that have happened to her over the past year.
As Y&R viewers know, Faith has had to deal with Sharon’s cancer scare, as well as the exposé on Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) that delved into her kidnapping when she was a baby.
Then Faith had to deal with the mean girls and the bullying at school, while the one thing that has made her seem “cool” to Jordan has been her occasional drinking. It seems like a big recipe for disaster.
And then there’s another factor to consider, and that’s that Faith’s grandmother Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) is an alcoholic.
That’s led Sharon and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) to worry about Faith’s relationship with alcohol, yet they are now under the impression that Faith is no longer drinking. However, since Faith just stole booze from Sharon, it seems that she’s planning on drinking again.
And then, on the episode that will air on Wednesday, December 30, Faith will be shown eyeballing an open bottle of champagne in Sharon’s house right as Sharon, Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes), and Faith leave for Sharon and Rey Rosales’ (Jordi Vilasuso) wedding.
It seems that Faith might even drink some of that champagne before the wedding, which would really signal some problem drinking.
Well, Y&R spoilers indicate that Faith’s drinking is going to get bad enough that Nikki will eventually step in to counsel her granddaughter about the situation. But will that be enough?
If Faith is truly using alcohol as a coping mechanism and she has inherited alcoholism from her grandmother, then she might need more than just a talking-to here and there. Faith could end up needing teen rehab.
We’ll see what happens here, but it certainly seems like Faith’s story with alcohol is leading to something big. It will be interesting to see whether Faith continues drinking on the sly, whether she starts drinking by herself, and exactly what becomes of it.
