The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Jess Walton (Jill Abbott) is facing a heartbreaking loss as she grieves the death of her husband, John James. On Walton’s social media accounts, she opened up about losing her spouse of 40 years this week.
Walton explained that three months ago, James was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer. His battle brought what was “far and away the most painful period” of Walton’s life as well as the lives of their children.
However, Walton did her best to find the silver lining in a devastating situation. She admitted it was rewarding to devote themselves to James during this time since he’d spent so much of his life helping others.
This brought a chance to return the favor and give James all the love he needed as he prepared to pass away.
Grief is something James was quite familiar with since he founded a company called Grief Recovery Method. Walton pointed out that her family would use James’ own guidelines to help them as they face the “daily heartbreak of living without him.”
The Y&R star considers that a gift that her husband left behind for his loved ones and anyone else struggling in times of mourning.
James died the morning of August 10 in the comfort of his own home, but he no doubt knew he was adored and cared for.
Although Walton and her kids are going to miss James terribly, they all seem grateful to know he’s at least no longer in any pain.
Of course, the road ahead is still going to be tough without James, but his memory lives on – and plenty of Young and the Restless viewers have been sending support to Walton and her family.
Walton is a fan favorite as Jill Abbott in Genoa City, so we certainly hope she’s feeling the love on social media. Jill can hopefully rejoin the action eventually, but it’s obvious her family is the priority right now.
Our hearts go out to Walton and those closest to her as they begin this difficult chapter of grieving.
