The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Monday, January 3 Recap – Sally’s Fake Emergency Steals Adam From Chelsea

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Monday, January 3, tease that Sally Spectra’s (Courtney Hope) fake emergency will steal Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) away from Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) while Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) admits to feeling like a failure as a father.

At Chelsea’s penthouse on Monday’s Y&R episode, she’ll push Adam to admit there’s still something between them. Adam will argue that even if there are some feelings left, getting back together would be a mistake.

Chelsea will counter that this can’t be the end of their story, but Adam will wonder if this is what she really wants or if she’s just trying to prove to herself that she’s healed emotionally.

“Why can’t it be both?” Chelsea will ask. She’ll talk about how happy she was at Christmas and contend that Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) is proof they can make something beautiful together.

When Adam says they can’t go back, Chelsea will argue that they can go forward. She’ll push hard for a romantic reunion, but Adam will feel like they would only end up hurting each other.

Adam will agree to help Chelsea at work and as co-parents, but he’ll insist that has to be enough.

At Newman Media, Sally will wheel a suitcase in and turn on the lights with a smile – like she’s got something up her sleeve.

Back with Adam, he’ll get a text from Sally about an office emergency. Adam will tell Chelsea that something’s come up at work and apologize for the night not turning out how she wanted.

When Adam arrives at Newman Media, he’ll find the office decked out with decorations for Halloween, St. Patrick’s Day, Independence Day and more.

Adam will realize Sally found a loophole since they agreed not to celebrate New Year’s Eve, but they never said they couldn’t celebrate other holidays.

Sally will point out that the clock is ticking, so they’re running out of time if they want to “not celebrate” before midnight. Adam will smile and shake his head a little in amusement.

At the Chancellor mansion, Chance will look at Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Rainn and River Ware) on the baby monitor and urge him to keep right on sleeping.

Chance will have a romantic night in store for Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) to help get her mind off things.

At Society, Abby will greet Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) and Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso), who’ll be all dressed up and will feel like VIPs.

Rey will wish Sharon a happy anniversary as they reflect on the last year and make plans for the new one with a toast.

Once Abby comes home, she’ll be thrilled over Chance’s romantic setup.

After Abby showers Chance with praise, he’ll act like she’s overcompensating for something. It’ll take some convincing, but Abby will ultimately admit she’s worried about Chance.

Chance will confess to feeling disconnected from his life now, so Abby will vow to help him – that is unless he thinks she can’t. Abby will wonder if that distance Chance was talking about applies to her, too.

Chance will contend that Abby is the one thing he’s sure about and will hate everything he put her through.

Chance will feel like he’s failing as a father and will acknowledge that there’s a void where his paternal instinct should be.

Chance will suggest Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) always knows exactly what Dominic needs, but he’s constantly asking himself what to do.

Chance won’t know if it’s because he wasn’t there when Dom was born or if it goes further back.

Chance will worry this relates to his own father, who left because he couldn’t handle being a dad. As much as Chance loves Dominic, he just won’t think he has what it takes to be a good father.

Later, Chance will apologize for killing the mood on New Year’s Eve, but Abby will think all that matters is she’s ending 2021 with the man she loves.

Abby will assure Chance that she’s going to help him overcome his fears.

At the Grand Phoenix, Devon will comment on how beautiful Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) looks and will want to make this night all about her. However, Amanda will push Devon to reveal what’s really on his mind.

Devon will admit he can’t help but wonder how Chance and Abby are spending New Year’s Eve with Dominic. He’ll be concerned about the shared custody drama, but he’ll be grateful for all Amanda’s support.

Amanda will admit she might lack perspective since she’s bringing her personal history into this.

When Amanda sees Devon with the baby, she’s reminded of her own father and how he never had a chance to be a dad.

Amanda will get that her situation is different than the one with Dominic, who’s cherished and wanted.

Even so, Amanda will think Dominic deserves all the love in the world and will want to help Devon on his journey.

“A child deserves his father’s love…and that’s Chance’s and yours,” Amanda will insist. She’ll end up returning home with Devon for slow-dancing and lovemaking.

Back at Society, Sharon and Rey will spot Chelsea when she arrives to get some takeout.

They’ll invite Chelsea to join them and will insist until she finally caves in. Chelsea will try chatting with Rey and Sharon, but she’ll clearly feel like a third wheel and will suggest she’d better get home.

Once Sharon is alone with Rey, they’ll embrace the tradition of eating saved wedding cake slices on their first anniversary. Rey will joke about it tasting like the freezer before dancing with Sharon and kissing her as they celebrate.

At Newman Media again, Sally will break out booze, caviar and smoked salmon to go with their Hitchcock movie options.

Sally will suggest it counts as fashion research since the women in the films wear beautiful clothes.

Adam will vote for North by Northwest before admitting he was kind of glad for the interruption tonight. When Sally asks what she interrupted, Adam will claim it was just “family stuff.”

Sally will talk about the office being the perfect cold, sterile work environment for their non-date – and Adam will confirm that a non-date is what they wanted.

Once they settle in on the sofa for the movie, Sally will explain that they have to sit close because they’re watching on her small laptop screen.

Sally willl suggest they can try hooking it up to a big screen in the conference room if Adam is uncomfortable, but he’ll tell Sally that it’s fine.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will appear outside the office door. She’ll reel when she spots Adam and Sally looking all cozy as they clink their glasses, but she’ll leave without interrupting.

Chelsea will head home to mull over what she witnessed while Sally and Adam shared a charged moment on the office sofa.

We’ll deliver updates as other Y&R news comes in. The Young and the Restless spoilers say Chelsea will confront Adam about his New Year’s Eve rendezvous soon enough!
