The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that the CBS soap could be gearing up for an exciting couple swap. Y&R fans know Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) has become overprotective of Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) lately.
In fact, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) seems to think Phyllis cares a little too much! We’ve seen concern from Nick that could lead to jealousy down the line.
After all, Phyllis is Jack’s ex, so anybody in Nick’s position would have a reason to be wary. Since Phyllis has become obsessed with defeating Jack’s new love interest, that’s troubling.
Of course, we also have to pay attention to the brief interactions Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) has had with Nick.
Y&R viewers will recall that Nick was flattered after Sally gushed about his Restless Style days. On another occasion, Nick smiled and waved slightly at Sally across The Grand Phoenix lobby.
It was just a casual little moment, but Phyllis didn’t seem thrilled about Sally potentially duping Nick with her charms.
The show’s established that Phyllis thinks Sally is far more of a threat than Nick does. Nick wants Phyllis to back off and let Jack life his life, but Phyllis obviously isn’t going to do that.
Instead, Phyllis’ fixation with protecting Jack could turn into growing feelings and an eventual reunion. That’s especially if Phyllis goes too far with her Sally takedown and infuriates Nick in the process.
There have already been some comparisons made between Phyllis and Sally, so The Young and the Restless writers could easily lean into that on Jack’s end.
It’d be easy for Jack to decide the woman he really wants is Phyllis, who’s closer to his age and someone he has a history with. Jack might determine he’s been using Sally as a Phyllis replacement all along.
That’s especially true since Sally might play a role in blowing up Kyle Abbott’s (Michael Mealor) world.
If Sally does something that tips Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) off somehow, it could lead to Ashland finding out that Kyle was Tara Locke’s (Elizabeth Leiner) cheating partner and that Harrison Locke is Kyle’s son.
Whatever the case, The Young and the Restless has potentially turned this into a love quad situation. Sally, Jack, Phyllis and Nick are all involved here, so things could get messy.
It’s possible some couple shakeups will result – much like when Y&R shook up the quad featuring Devon Hamilton (Bryton James), Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy), Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) and Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan).
