The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that marriage counseling may not be enough to save Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) and Sharon Rosales’ (Sharon Case) relationship. The fact that Sharon and Rey are already having to attend couples therapy this soon into their marriage isn’t a good sign.
Rey and Sharon should still be in the blissful honeymoon stage, but Sharon’s lingering connection with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) caused major problems.
Rey was already at odds with Sharon over her ex, but Sharon made matters worse by kissing Adam – and then it became a public spectacle through that spread “Shadam” smooch photo.
Now Rey’s willing to fight for his relationship with Sharon and move forward if possible. However, we have to wonder if Rey is perhaps giving Sharon one too many chances.
Sharon has proven that she can’t stay away from Adam, so there’s no reason to think this time will be any different. It seems like no amount of marriage counseling in the world can change the intense bond Adam and Sharon have.
With that in mind, Rey may find himself in need of another love interest down the road. Many Y&R fans have been buzzing on social media about who Rey should be paired with next.
Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) seem like the two love interest options that have been talked about most for Rey, but they may not be great choices – at least not anytime soon.
Victoria appears to be hung up on Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and is pretty involved in business drama right now. Chelsea is focused on doing her best to recover and get revenge on Adam.
Perhaps we should consider someone else for Rey to bond with if his marriage to Sharon ultimately falls apart.
Could Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) be a potential love interest for Rey? The Young and the Restless has let Rey and Amanda interact on several occasions – including back when Rey helped put Amanda’s abusive ex, Ripley Turner (Christian Keyes), behind bars.
It’d be easy to have a Ripley escape scare or something along those lines to push Amanda in Rey’s direction.
However, it’d be just as easy to have Amanda and Rey realize they simply have a lot in common. Amanda’s on the verge of finding out about Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) steamy night with Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) in the ice storm.
It’ll become apparent to Amanda that Devon isn’t over Elena and perhaps never will be.
That’s something Rey may be able to relate to if marriage counseling fails and Sharon ends up right back in Adam’s orbit. Rey may realize he can’t compete with Sharon’s love for Adam – and Amanda may feel like she can’t compete with Devon’s love for Elena either.
It’d be simple to use that to push Rey and Amanda into a new love story.
