The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers for Thursday, January 28, reveals that some tense moments are set to play out. At Jabot, Summer Newman (Hunter King) tells Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) that she met up with some “friends” of Sally’s while she was out in LA. Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks), Bill Spencer (Don Diamont), Flo Fulton (Katrina Bowden)…
Summer suggests they all had a lot to say about Sally, which leaves Sally unsettled. Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) is there to take in this scene between the rivals. Summer tells Sally that Wyatt and Flo send their regards, so Sally says that was nice of them.
Jack leaves due to the weather alert, so Summer tightens her grip on Sally once they’re alone. Sally tackles the issue head-on and assumes Summer knows about her past in LA now.
There’s nothing Sally can do about that, so she apologizes for how she handled things when Summer took over JCV. Sally’s really hoping they can move forward.
Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) appears and wonders what’s going on. Summer argues that whatever Sally did in the past can stay there as far as she’s concerned.
Sally’s grateful, but she wonders what exactly was said in LA. Summer insists they should just let those “sleeping LA dogs lie” as long as everybody cooperates.
Kyle’s on board with that and wouldn’t want anything coming out that might damage Jabot or Fenmore’s reputation. Sally couldn’t agree more.
Summer notes that if Sally’s ever feeling under the weather, she knows some great doctors in Genoa City who can give her a second opinion. Sally looks irritated as she nods.
After Sally gets a text from Lauren Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman) and leaves, Kyle asks how much of Sally’s apology that Summer buys. Only the part about Sally being mad she wasn’t handed JCV as far as Summer’s concerned.
“Everything else was bull,” Summer insists. She’s glad to have Kyle on her side and feels she’s got Sally the rat right where she wants her.
Kyle says the interesting thing about rats is that they’ll often lash out when they’re cornered. He wants Summer to keep in mind that she might’ve made Sally even more of a threat.
At Crimson Lights, Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) has something she wants to talk to Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) about. “Let me guess. It’s about Adam,” Rey says. He learns Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) may have some psychological issues, so Adam wants Sharon to help her.
Rey wonders why Sharon has to be the one to give that help.
After Sharon explains, Rey realizes that Adam wants to torture his fiancée into getting better. He thinks it sounds like a great deal for Adam and a lousy one for Chelsea as well as Sharon.
However, Sharon argues she’s heard of cases where provocation can work – and Chelsea did react when Sharon brought those books over.
Chelsea also blinked her approval, but Sharon wanted to talk to Rey first. He thinks Sharon should stay out of it and let another therapist without baggage attached, but he leaves the decision up to Sharon.
At the cottage, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) worries to Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) about Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind). After a chat with Faith upstairs, Nikki updates Nick on Faith being apologetic about her Society blowup.
However, Faith shut down again, which Nick was afraid of. He talks about Faith being bullied and has talked to the school, but there’s only so much they can do. Nick wants to talk to Sharon alone, so Nikki agrees to stick around with Faith at Sharon’s place.
Back at Crimson Lights, Rey’s always going to be worried when it comes to anything that involves Adam. Nick interrupts, so Rey tells Sharon they’ll continue this conversation later. Once Rey’s gone, Nick can tell he walked in on an intense conversation.
After Sharon reveals Adam’s request for Chelsea, Nick thinks it’s a pretty big ask. After all the drama Sharon went through last year, he doesn’t see why she’d want to sign up for more – especially due to everything that’s going on with Faith.
Sharon assures Nick that Faith comes first. She’ll feel a lot more comfortable once Faith has spoken to a therapist. Sharon has already put together a list of potential psychologists, but Nick doesn’t want to rush this. Sharon thought they agreed on this therapy idea and wonders if Nick has changed his mind.
At Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) place, Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) brings Devon a package that was addressed to him and sent to the clinic. It was overnighted, so Elena thought it might be important.
Devon lets Elena in, so she notes that it feels different being there now. She goes to get Devon’s letter opener before catching herself and admitting it’s not her house anymore.
Elena suggests that since some time has passed, maybe they could move toward being friends or something similar. If friendship is pushing it, Elena understands. Devon says that’s something he’s considered and doesn’t think it’s impossible.
“So…friends?” Elena says while extending her hand. “Yeah, friends,” Devon replies with a chuckle and shakes on it. Elena decides she should get going, but Devon thinks she should hang out there until the weather improves. They discuss Moses Winters’ final preparations before coming to Genoa City soon.
Devon thinks Moses is mostly excited about being mentored by Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic). Elena thinks Moses is excited to live with his big brother, too. She insists that both Devon and Nate are strong, caring men.
Devon brings up Elena’s feelings for Nate and wonders if she had those feelings before the night she cheated. Elena doesn’t know how to answer that, but Devon would like to know the truth about how long things had been building between them.
Elena doesn’t know what difference it makes if she had feelings for Nate before that night. Devon thinks Elena at least owes it to him to answer the question. “Friends are supposed to be honest with each other, right?” Devon says. Elena says she should go, so she heads out the door and leaves Devon looking pensive.
At the Abbott mansion, Gloria Fisher-Bardwell (Judith Chapman) offers her condolences on Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams). Jack thinks maybe Gloria has another motive for her visit.
Gloria stalls and insists everyone always suspects her of ulterior motives. She wonders what’s so wrong with her stopping by to reminisce.
Jack brought a lot of work home with him, so Gloria says she had fond memories of working with him at “good ol’ Jabot.” Gloria is proud of everything she accomplished.
“Does that include the tainted face cream?” Jack asks in Thursday’s Young and the Restless episode. “One mistake!” Gloria insists.
Jack thinks there were a few more than that and notes that she bailed on him. Gloria starts fishing for a new beginning at Jabot, so he wonders when this turned into a job interview.
Jack turns Gloria down, but he’ll keep his eyes and ears open for a position that fits Gloria’s “special talents.” Gloria wants Jack to give it a little more thought before he erases the idea completely and takes off.
Sally makes her way to see Lauren at Society, where Lauren praises her marketing pitch. She’s got another project for Sally, which surprises her. Sally mentions Summer’s trip to see Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) at Spencer Publications and suspects this project is about that.
Lauren admits that it is, so Sally doesn’t think she’s the best person for the job.
Sally reveals that things are complicated. It’s not that she would have a problem or be unprofessional, but she thinks Wyatt would have a problem with her. Sally brings up her LA mistakes – and Wyatt was one of them. “Ah, so you were involved,” Lauren says, getting at least part of the picture.
Sally notes that their relationship didn’t end well and alludes to doing some wrong things, so Lauren wonders how wrong. Sally ends up slipping it into the conversation that Bill blew up her building with Sally inside.
Lauren is horrified over that bombshell, but Sally takes the blame for her own role in all the Spencer drama.
Lauren wants Sally to focus on the future and not the past, so they’ll work out who does what at a later date. Gloria walks in and mentions that Jack’s at home rather than the office. She mentions that he’s a dear friend – and Gloria is very protective of Jack.
Sally decides she’ll drop the delivery Lauren has for Jack off since it’s on her way. Once Sally’s gone, Gloria pitches herself for a position at Fenmore’s. She thinks they could send the company into the stratosphere.
Lauren stammers “not at this time” and offers an almost identical response to the one Jack gave – she’ll keep her eyes and hears open for someone in need of Gloria’s talents. “Did you and Jack rehearse that?” Gloria grumbles.
At the coffeehouse again, Nick thinks space will help Faith. She needs time to calm down. Sharon argues that therapy isn’t punishment and that it could be helpful. They compromise on meeting with a therapist of Sharon’s choice first and seeing if they’re good with pursuing this path.
Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) shows up, so Nick heads out and lets her sit down with Sharon on the patio. When Mariah wonders what’s up, Sharon suggests this is where a more cynical mom would tell her to never have kids.
Due to the surrogacy situation Mariah’s mulling over, that comment affects her.
“Wait, are you thinking of getting pregnant,” Sharon asks. “It’s a possibility,” Mariah replies. She updates Sharon on Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) and Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) asking her to be their surrogate.
Sharon thinks it’d be an extremely generous thing if Mariah did it, but Mariah hasn’t decided yet.
Mariah notes that she talked to Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks), who’s agreed to think about the news as well. Sharon mentions Mariah’s job, but Mariah doesn’t think that’d be any different that the millions of other women who get pregnant and go to work.
Plus, Abby is an Abbott. Mariah can’t imagine that Jack and Kyle would have any sort of problem with her helping Abby be a mom.
Sharon warns that this is a huge commitment and a life-changing decision. She wants Mariah to ask herself how she’d feel carrying a child that she won’t raise.
Mariah argues it wouldn’t be her baby; it would be Chance and Abby’s. She’d just be happy with the title of “wacky Aunt Mariah.”
Sharon has experience in the pregnancy department and argues it’s not that simple. There’s a bond that comes with carrying a baby for nine months.
Mariah wonders if Sharon thinks she should say no, but Sharon isn’t saying that at all. She just wants to make sure Mariah’s taking everything into account.
Mariah doesn’t think giving up the baby will be a problem, but Sharon counters that Mariah shouldn’t be so sure. At the Abbott mansion, Jack warns Sally about how treacherous ice storms can be. He urges Sally to relax with a cup of tea since she’s going to be there for a while.
Back at Jabot on Thursday’s Y&R episode, Summer and Kyle are stranded in the storm. Since they’ve got the place to themselves, Summer suggests the possibilities are endless and shuts the boardroom door for lovemaking.
At Devon’s penthouse again, he opens the door to see Elena. “Hey, my car won’t start. I’m not going anywhere,” Elena admits.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Elena and Devon are about to take things to another sizzling level, so stay tuned to Y&R. CDL will have other hot Young and the Restless spoilers, updates and news to pass along, so stick with us.
