The Young and the Restless Spoilers Update: Tuesday, January 19 – Ripley Turner Wound Reopened – Nikki Wants to Ban Jordan

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Tuesday, January 19, reveals that Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) is struggling to sleep following the news that she can’t carry a baby. Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) checks on Abby, who admits her brain’s still trying to accept the shocker.

At Crimson Lights, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) assures Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) that he can handle Abby’s latest crisis. Once Victor’s gone, Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) comes over and wonders if now would be a good time to get some advice from Nikki.

Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind) has dealt with so much over the last year or so. Sharon runs down the list of everything Faith’s been through due to Sharon’s illness. The Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) exposé made matters worse and led to other students harassing Faith at school.

“And nobody from the school has done anything about it? That’s outrageous!” Nikki exclaims. She offers to speak to the dean at the school, but Sharon admits she wants to talk about something else.

Sharon reveals that Faith has been acting out. She talks about the couple of times that they know of that Faith has been drinking.

Nikki’s upset that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) hasn’t told her already, but Sharon insists he was going to. She just thought she’d seize the moment now. Sharon explains how Faith was “too perky” when she came home from her honeymoon.

Sharon fills Nikki in on Jordan (Madison Thompson), who was with Faith both times on the morning after.

There’s enough evidence to break up that relationship as far as Nikki’s concerned. This is a serious red flag to her. However, Sharon worries since Faith gave up everyone she was close to in boarding school. Sharon thinks it seems harsh to separate Faith from Jordan if they’ve found genuine connection.

Since Sharon doesn’t know how to handle the situation, she was hoping Nikki could help. “So, you decided to go to the family alcoholic for advice?” Nikki wonders. Sharon meant no offense, but Nikki says there’s none taken.

Nikki wants to have a heart-to-heart with Faith soon and gets confirmation that knows about Nikki’s alcoholism.

Nikki also talks about Faith’s potential predisposition to it and the issues that could result. Sharon points out that Faith knows how Cassie died as well – that there was alcohol involved in that situation.

Nikki feels it’s a warning sign if Faith is putting up a front. It’s a classic defense mechanism, but Nikki reassures Sharon that they can tackle this.

Faith arrives moments later and learns Grandma wants to arrange a day for Faith to spend some time with her. Once Nikki leaves, Faith lashes out at Sharon. “You told her, didn’t you? About the drinking? Great, now my own grandmother thinks I’m an alcoholic,” Faith snaps.

Sharon admits what she told Nikki, so Faith wonders who else her mom plans to tell. Faith sarcastically suggests they should ask Billy to write another exposé – just tell the entire town!

Faith thinks Sharon should’ve come to her. She knows she doesn’t need therapy, so suspicious Sharon wonders why Faith would bring that up.

Sharon wants to know if Faith was eavesdropping on her conversation with Nick. Faith basically says she has to since they’re sneaking around making plans behind her back.

Faith rants about how she doesn’t need support. She just made a mistake and isn’t an addict or headcase. “I’m just a normal person who had a crappy year. Will you please just accept that and leave me alone?” Faith shouts before storming out.

Victor heads to the Chancellor mansion, but Chance politely suggests Vic come back after Abby’s gotten some rest. After Abby joins them anyway, Victor wonders how Abby’s doing since he got the news from Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson).

Victor calls a specialist to look over Abby’s case, so Abby suggests that “maybe there is still hope.” Victor promises there’s always hope, but Chance seems concerned.

Abby doesn’t see the harm in getting a second opinion. She assures Chance this is just how Newmans are. Later, Victor wraps up a call and says he’ll be waiting right there until doc from Chicago calls back.

At The Grand Phoenix, Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) runs into Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) and mentions she’s meeting Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic). He’s just running a little late.

Amanda brings up the spokesperson job with Ask MD Now, but Elena would rather talk about how things are going between Amanda and Devon Hamilton (Bryton James).

Amanda insists they’re just friends – and Elena acknowledges that Devon said that, too. Elena claims she’s accepted that her own relationship with Devon is over, but she still cares about him. She wants to make sure Devon’s all right after the breakup. Amanda promises Devon appears to be handling it just fine and doesn’t think he’s faking it.

Elena’s glad that Devon has been there for Amanda, but Amanda admits it’s really the other way around. Amanda sits down with Elena to offer birth mom updates, including info on her half-sister’s restraining order.

Elena feels that must’ve brought memories of Ripley Turner (Christian Keyes) filing a restraining order to mess with Amanda’s head.

That never even occurred to Amanda, but she thinks Elena’s right. This new restraining order picked at an old wound that wasn’t healed. Elena feels like maybe Amanda is better off without these people in her life.

Amanda admits that Devon thinks she should be patient and keep an open mind. Nevertheless, Amanda is fine if Devon is the only family member she comes out of this with.

Elena turns away looking glum as she realizes how close Amanda and Devon have gotten. Amanda gets a call from Devon on Tuesday’s Young and the Restless episode, so Elena says it’s been great catching up. She looks pensive as Amanda walks away.

At Chancellor Communications, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) shows Nate his new Ask MD Now lab coat, Lily gushes about how it’ll look fantastic on Nate in his video segments. Nate points out he hasn’t accepted the job yet, but Lily feels certain that he won’t pass the gig up. This job would allow Nate to help so many people – not to mention Lily is relentless.

Nate mentions Billy must’ve had no idea what he was getting himself into. “Who told you about Billy and me?” Lily asks quizzically. Nate realizes there’s more than a professional partnership here and wonders how long that’s been going on.

Lily downplays it, so Nate assumes it’s not that serious – that they’re just having a good time. “Well, I wouldn’t go that far,” Lily says.

Lily feels like she’s in a similar place in her life, but Nate doesn’t like hearing her compare herself to Billy. Nate says he had a front-row seat to what went down when Billy’s relationship with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) ended. He talks about Amanda and Billy’s intense friendship.

The secrecy, how Victoria had no idea where Billy’s emotional energy was going…

Nate acknowledges that Lily must think he has no business judging due to his own betrayal of Devon. Lily doesn’t blame Nate, but she also knows Billy has made mistakes and accepts them. Nate just doesn’t want Lily to get hurt, so she appreciates that.

Talk turns back to the Ask MD Now spokesperson gig. Lily knows Nate doesn’t like to fail, but she insists Nate won’t fail on this job. Since Lily keeps pushing, Nate agrees as long as he can back out if it’s not working. Lily promises there’ll be outs in for both of them in the contracts, but she’s certain Nate will be phenomenal.

Devon’s at Society when Lily comes in later. She reveals she got Nate to become the new face of the medical site, so Devon’s nice about it. Devon also has some news and shares that Moses Winters might be coming to town.

Devon speaks about how Moses wants Nate to mentor him while he lives with Devon. Lily’s happy that the Genoa City branch of the Winters family tree might grow again.

In the suite Elena booked, Nate arrives and reveals that he took the job on a trial basis. He also talks about a massive remodel on his house. Nate can’t wait for the day when it’s done and he can finally take Elena there.

Elena fills Nate in on her conversation with Amanda in the lobby earlier. She brings Nate up to speed on the birth mother news as well as Imani Benedict’s (Leigh-Ann Rose) restraining order. Elena notes that Devon has been helping Amanda through it, so Nate wonders how she feels about that.

“They seem good for each other…so…I guess it’s great,” Elena says unconvincingly. Nate insists it’s OK to admit she still cares. He would find it strange if Elena didn’t. Elena contends that this doesn’t affect how Elena feels about Nate. She wants this to work, and he says that makes two of them.

Back with Lily, she tells Devon that maybe Moses can do an internship at Ask MD Now. She told Billy she didn’t want more kids, but she does missing having teenagers around.

Devon quizzes Lily about this kid conversation, so she teases him about Amanda. Devon pushes Lily to leave and grins as she keeps calling Amanda’s name out on her way out.

Amanda joins Devon afterward and reveals how she was catching up with Elena. She realized just how much she’s been relying on Devon. They talk about how Lily thinks there’s more going on than they’re willing to admit. “Has she always been such a matchmaker?” Amanda asks.

Devon confesses that it’s got him wondering if maybe Lily’s onto something. He asks what Amanda would say to going on an official date and seeing what happens.

In bed in her suite, Elena dreams of making love to Devon on the sofa of his penthouse. Nate’s standing there when Elena wakes up startled. Elena claims she’s OK – that she just forgot where she was for a second.

Back with Abby, she’s on a video chat with a doctor. The scarring is just too much to overcome, so she agrees with the first doctor’s opinion. “We will never give up” Victor insists. He has another specialist to call, but the result is more bad news.

Abby realizes the third opinion is the same as the first two: that if a fertilized egg could implant, it wouldn’t hold for long. It’d just result in another miscarriage and Abby couldn’t handle that.

Victor notes that there’s another way for Abby and Chance to have a child. Chance thinks that’s a discussion for another day. Victor says to let him know when Abby’s ready and they’ll figure something out.

Next on Tuesday’s Y&R episode, Victor reconvenes with Nikki at Society and shares everything going on with Abby. Nikki admits they need to be concerned about Faith, too. She confides about how Faith is hanging out with older kids and experimenting with alcohol. “It’s just so dangerous,” Nikki says.

Victor’s glad that Sharon reached out. He promises to be there for Abby and Adam as well. Nikki suggests that retirement isn’t working out like Victor expected. Victor’s still a very busy man, but he assures Nikki that his family is his priority.

Nikki’s grateful for their restorative London trip and wants to tackle all their family issues together.
