The firefighters along with their paramedic counterparts got called to the scene of a car accident. The woman that ran off the road was named Carrie and unfortunately, Carrie crashed into hay. She suffers from a hay fever allergy that wasn’t working so well with her spinal fracture. Every sneeze was forcing a flinch. Owen had to teach her a trick to not sneeze and they got her talking. Carrie ran off the road because she thought she hit a deer. It was only as they were transporting her that they found a foot and realized she hadn’t hit deer. They had to find a victim. They found him in all that hay.

The poor guy was bleeding out from losing his literal foot. They had to tie off the wound and rush him to the hospital with the foot so that it could be reattached. The foot almost got left behind, but the firefighters remembered it and they had a nice laugh about it later. TK went from work to an AA meeting. He met up with his new sponsor. His sponsor’s name is Cooper. Cooper is a nice guy. he’s always there to support TK and TK’s boyfriend Carlos was a little jealous of Cooper. Carlos wanted to be the guy that TK has to speak to in the middle of the night. He’s the one that wants to cheer up TK.

It also didn’t help that Carlos has never met Cooper. He sorta built the man up in his head as a threat and meeting him might put his mind at ease. But then again, meeting him might make things worse. It did for Owen. Owen met his newest girlfriend’s ex-husband. Owen offered to catsit her sphinx and so Catherine had her ex-husband drop off the cat at Owen’s house only before this happened it had been suggested that the two men were a lot alike. Catherine thought that would be an issue. She mentioned it and Owen said it was going to be fine. Then he met Patrick. Patrick was nothing like him.

Patrick was a lot older. He was all grey. He wore glasses. He was even bald though to be fair he started going bald in high school and that’s what he said to Owen after Owen accidentally insulted him. Owen just couldn’t see how they were possible alike. Owen called Judd in a panic because he needed to talk to someone and he explained Patrick to him. It was Judd who reminded Owen that he was older than Catherine. The same as Patrick. Maybe Catherine has a daddy thing. She dates an older man because she has daddy issues and Owen felt icky once he started seeing that. It also didn’t help that Judd was brought along. And at one point he had to cheer up his crying daughter.

Seeing a father/daughter relationship made him realize how disturbing Catherine’s fetish might be. Owen was disgusted and Judd found it amusing. Meanwhile, Carlos ended up meeting Cooper. Cooper picked up TK for an impromptu meeting and he was gorgeous. He was so gorgeous that Carlos got super jealous. He started lashing out. TK had to ask what was wrong because this behavior was coming from out of nowhere. Carlos admitted that Cooper was okay. He also got jealous of the amount of time they shared and how much TK was talking to Cooper about his problems. And so TK explained things.

Well, first he mentioned that Cooper was straight. He also said that he talks to Cooper because Cooper is the only one who understands his addiction. Cooper and the rest of his group at AA have been there. They know what it’s like. Carlos doesn’t. He will never know and TK is happy for him that he will never know. TK later got called to a scene where a teenage boy watched his mother die. It had been a simple mishap with the car door and yet the kid had to witness all of it. When he was told that his mother was gone, the kid began blaming himself. He thought he distracted his mom. He regretted his last few words to his mom.

Seeing the teenager in his grief, TK remembered his own mom. He was struggling with his sobriety now more than ever because he didn’t have mom here for him this time and so he skipped a meeting. He blew off Cooper. He went home and he started looking through old photo albums of him with his mom. He was getting super depressed. Carlos became worried about him. Carlos ended up getting over his jealousy and he called Cooper to come to the apartment. He called in Cooper because he knew that TK desperately needed a sponsor before he relapsed. And so Carlos left them alone in the apartment so that TK could just talk alone with Cooper.

But Owen broke up with Catherine. He accused her of being an AARP deviant and he said so much that he couldn’t take it back once he realized he made a mistake. It turns out the man who dropped off the cat was Catherine’s former father-in-law. Her ex-husband came by to pick up the cat. He looked exactly like Owen. And so Catherine was telling the truth when she said she had a type but she now no longer wants anything to do with Owen.

Tommy meanwhile went on a date that ended in tears. His tears. She went on a date with another widower from her grief group and it became disastrous once she reminded him of his late wife. And he started uncontrollably crying.
