In tonight’s 9-1-1 episode, May takes a call from a concerned girlfriend whose boyfriend leads police on a high-speed pursuit. May’s co-worker intervenes and then steals her thunder. Later, May tells Athena and Bobby. Bobby wants to talk to the dispatch supervisor. Athena promised she wouldn’t be that mom.

Chim brings this little brother apartment hunting. He isn’t having much luck. Meanwhile, May really cannot take her coworker anymore who has rerouted her ambulance. May yells at her in front of everyone after the woman calls her sweetie. The woman and May get called into the boss’ office. While all of this is going down, a man is in the building working on a clean system. Something goes wrong. Eddie is called to the scene. He finds an employee named Terry passed out. After, he discovers a room on fire. He radios up to dispatch after the fire alarms won’t work.

May continues to argue with her co-worker while Bobby and the team arrive to empty out the building. They bring Terry and the others out and set up a triage area. Inside, May and her co-worker begin to communicate and connect. May talks about running out of time to decide if she wants to go to college. Outside, their boss realizes they are still in the building. She tells Bobby who tells Eddie, Buck, and the others. They head in to save them.

May and her coworker realize there is a fire. Her coworker starts to panic and cough. May starts to come up with a plan to stave off the flames.

Chim and the others head to the roof to find a way in. Albert falls down and makes Him worry but he gets backs up and keeps moving.

May continues to try and calm her coworker down who is panicking and rambling about how she hates fire. Meanwhile, Bobby is trying to get to May and begins to become nervous as the flames rip through the building. Eddie and the others locate the contractor who was working on the system that caught on fire. He is still alert but injured.

Bobby finally gets to May. The building crashes in. The team members who got out are called back in. They learn Bobby is still in there. They run in ripping through the rubble, screaming. They find Bobby alive with May. He was covering her when it all fell. They walk out with minor injuries. The team is so relieved to find their leader.

Outside, Buck is upset. Lucy comforts him. Taylor sees this from afar and is jealous. Bobby scared him. Hen checks on Bobby. May checks on her co-worker who calls her a badass for how she handled it all. May tells the EMTs she wants to ride with her dad. Bobby smiles.

Chim checks in on Albert. He is sorry. He shouldn’t have been on the roof. If he doesn’t think this is his line of work then he should have listened when he told him. Albert tells Chim he doesn’t want to disappoint him.

At the hospital, Taylor runs into Lucy and gives her a warning over Buck and the firehouse. May’s co-worker is rushed in after coding in the ambulance. She is pronounced minutes later. Hen and May don’t understand, she was fine. That night, Hen tells Karen about what happened to May’s co-worker. He feels like the EMT who was with her didn’t try enough.
