In tonight’s Big Sky episode, someone broke into a house with the homeowners upstairs. The wife woke up first. She heard the noise. She got scared and so she woke up her husband to take care of it. The husband first tried to say that it could be a raccoon. But his wife wasn’t buying it. She told him to check and that’s what he did. He went downstairs. He spotted someone trying to steal his car. He tried to stop them and he was bludgeoned to death. The poor man. His name was Diego Mendoza. The police were looking for his killer and his new widow got lucky. She got the best in law enforcement working the case. Both Beau and Jenny decided to work on this case together.

They found out that Diego owned a prize mustang. It was worth a lot of money. Too much money to leave at risk and so the first thing they did was check for a Lojack. They were looking for the murderer while Cassie was following a lead in her dead backpacker case. Cassie had seen a creepy man driving a car not long before the backpacker was found. She remembered that because she had felt at the time that the guy was trying to hide something from her. So, she followed that hunch. She went looking for the car and she later found it burnt. It had been torched and the person who did it had also removed the VIN number.

Finding the car in that state had simply confirmed Cassie’s hunch. She knew that guy had been creepy and her feelings were right. She also knew that the arsonist probably forgot about the second VIN number on the engine. But Cassie remembered. Cassie went looking for it. She found it. The vehicle had belonged to Buck Barnes. It was registered in his name and so Cassie later asked him about it. He initially pretended he couldn’t recall the car. He then made up a story about selling it to a logger with an all-cash offer. Buck said he never got the paperwork to change any of the information. And that’s why it’s still in his name.

Only Cassie could tell something was off. Buck went from remembering nothing to suddenly remembering that he supposedly sold his car to some logger passing through. Cassie felt something was off about that. She went looking into the car details. She was doing so even as Buck and his wife Sunny were trying to figure out a way to take care of her. They didn’t like that she was getting too close to finding out about the backpacker. They wanted to hide their connection to the car and that some had been involved in the death. Over with Jenny and Beau, they learned that someone was after that particular make and model.

They originally thought the murder involved an ex-con. The career criminal had owned the car when he lost it after going to prison and so the first theory about this case was that the ex-con left something in the car and that he stole the car back believing it was his. But Jenny talked to the guy. He seemed over the car. He seemed over life in general. He didn’t want to go back to prison and Jenny believed him about the prison thing. It also helped that Beau later found the car and was almost run over when the guy driving it escaped. Beau and Jenny eventually got a signal on the low jack. They traced it to a parking lot when they lost the signal again because of the structure of the building.

Beau and Jenny got all the way to the parking lot when they found the car. They also found its driver. The guy was murdered and a hole was cut out of the back of the vehicle. Jenny followed up on the new murderer victim. He was the cellmate of the ex-con she talked to. The guy talked in prison. He told his cellmate about his treasure. The cellmate then demanded a cut when he grabbed the car and killed someone to get it, but the ex-con killed him and reclaimed his treasure. The treasure as it turns out was a baseball card. It was very valuable. It also was worth more than the car.

Jenny and Beau made their arrest. They solved their case while Cassie continued to look into hers. She looked into Buck and Sunny. She sensed that they lied to her and she didn’t want her relationship with their son to affect how she saw the case. Cassie also came up with a composite of her suspect. She later showed the picture to her friends and her plan was to go on to show it around town. But as she was making plans, Barnes was making things worse and worse. Someone from the camp had found Paige’s bag in the woods. The Barnes then killed this woman to cover up what they did. And as for Walter, he ended up bonding with Paige.

Donno and Tonya were after Paige. They wanted to take the money she stole and so they went looking for her in the woods. Donno ran into Walter. They both threatened each other and walked in separate directions. But Walter told Paige that people were looking for them. She then got scared, but Walter assured her he would protect her. And that no one was ever going to separate them.

THE END!
