Tonight’s Billions episode begins with Kate, she tells Chuck that she was approached for a job but she is not going. He tells her to go, she be his Vincent Terranova.

Coach John Callparl gives the office a pep talk (speaking fee $200,000.00, and he gave them a great deal!), he tells them not to let the burn rate drag them down because at the end of the day, it’s about winning championships for all of them.

Prince’s idea of having the Olympics is not going smoothly, city council, legislator, activists, they’re all going to crap on this Olympic bid and they’re going to tag it with regulations, and that is after he jumps through flames.

Prince is in the office with Scooter and Wags, he says someone needs to navigate the land mines, specifically the ones planted by Chuck Rhoades. Wags says they have to hire inside the government, to backslap and crony their way past the city council. Prince says that Colin has the advance team from the International Commission of Sport in from Europe, they need to leave happy. Scooter says they can’t bribe them, they need to be made to be special. Wags says special for him is something different, Prince tells them to work together.

Prince goes in to see Wendy and says he needs her input on a new hire, Kate Sacker. Wendy tells him that she is not gettable. She tells him that she is going to stay out of this one.

Kate goes in to see Chuck, she tells him that she needs to start raising money, building staff, doing the grip-and-grins in her district, the kinds of things she cannot do while on the state’s dime. He tells her that they all had to take a back seat for the greater good. He asks her to stick with him a little longer.

Taylor goes in to see Prince, she has an idea to give out free Wi-Fi as their gift to New York, that is huge. They use blockchain to siphon unused Wi-Fi from existing networks of major telecom companies, then bundle the undetectable excess for civilian use. So free public internet can start now in New York as a goodwill incentive pre-Olympics and continue through the games for the athletes. He tells her to do it.

Rian and Taylor are working late and talking about the costs in sub-Saharan Africa.

Wendy comes out of a show and bumps into Kate. Wendy invites her to come by their offices to see how the new structure works, she says there is a big municipal project, poised to make major impact, but still facing public-sector resistance

Then she tells her that sometimes staying to long is a bigger risk.

The next day, Kate goes in to meet with Prince and Scooter and offers her the role of lead counsel for New York City’s first ever Olympics.

Prince says that when Sinatra sang about the place, then Jay-Z and Alicia Keys did, they meant it. Free cultural events, Free Wi-Fi. He needs someone to bushwhack through the legal thickets so he can make it all possible. He tells her to think about how landing a well-run Olympics could play for her in a congressional run. She will be touted as the woman who cleared the way to make it all possible.

Kate goes back to see Chuck, he tells her that she is going to turn it down and he wasn’t Ira Schirmer to take the job. Chuck meets with Ira, he tells him that he lacks access, relevance, being in the mix. He tells him about the job, he wans him to be Prince’s baby driver instead. Ira doesn’t think it is going to work, Prince knows they are friends. Chuck tells him to tell Prince that their friendship has been hurting him professionally.

Ira calls Prince, while he is in the office with Chuck, he tells Prince that he is the Chuck neutralizer. Prince tells him that he will talk to him in person. Scooter and Wags tell Prince that it is a setup.

Chuck’s next move is to mess with Taylor’s Wi-Fi play that Prince was so excited about.

Kate is out running, Prince bumps into her and tells her that is her time, they need to talk. She says if she comes on board and he is wrong, it’s be the end for her as a candidate. He tells her that she is smart, exceptionally smart. She doesn’t see how leaving to work for him, trashing her reputation she has built in the public sector, and turning her back on her mentor is good for her. He shows her an office across the street for lease and tells her that that will be her campaign office, and he will help get her nominated to congress.

Wags, Scooter and Colin are entertaining investors when Chuck moves in on them by having a private chopper pick them up for a private concert from The Boss and Bon Jovi. A concerted attack.

Prince and Wendy welcome Kate to Prince Capital, Scooter takes her for a tour.

Wendy tells Prince that she wants to be on the performance coaching team for the Olympics, he says done.

The Wi-Fi deal has changed and Taylor is not happy about it. Prince says he picks and chooses his shots so they stick and hold. She says she is going to do the same thing, soon enough. He asks her if she has a number, if she is going to change the world, nine digits ain’t going to do it. She says she has a new one now, a billion.

It’s late Kate meets Chuck, he asks her how could she. He can’t believe it is now when he is doing it right. She says she doesn’t just want to be an acolyte, she wants to be a peer. He says he is not done teaching her. She says she has left the campus, and walks away.

THE END!
