In tonight’s Chicago Fire episode, the station was experiencing some renovations. There was a crew in to fix the issue. Kylie met a trainee who went by the name of Needles and so she flirted with him while he was supposed to be working. Boden loves Kylie like a daughter. He didn’t see the appeal of Needles. He thought she could do better. But then the station got called to a massive fire. The fire occurred when a small jet engine crashed into a school and so the school was on fire. The firefighters had to go into the school clearing each room. They were also dealing with the fire. Lastly, they were dealing with the jet engine.

The jet engine hadn’t just crashed. It was still falling. It was going to bring the whole building down if it wasn’t assisted and so Mason got this idea. It was something he learned in his time in a different fire department. He learned that if they cut the building the right way. They could determine how the jet engine fell and which part of the roof it was taking with it. Stella thought it was dangerous. Boden thought it was dangerous. They knew that Mason got the idea by cutting trees. Only, trees were much different from an actual building. They only went along with this plan because it was Mason and they both trusted him.

Mason went in. He started cutting the building. They tried to pull him out early once they saw that the jet engine was shifting and he had to reassure them that he had this. He knew what to do. Mason went back to his job trying to frame how the building fell and his plan worked. He got the jet engine to fall without taking down the whole roof. This allowed the firefighters to escape with the people trapped inside. The firefighters also found a teacher that had been pierced by shrapnel. He had thought it was a gunshot wound. He was actually hiding because he thought it was an active shooter situation and so they informed him that no jet engine crashed on the school.

Shrapnel had pierced quite a few people. Violet and the new paramedic had their hands busy. Hawkins had to attend the scene and he called in more paramedics because the need was too great. It was hours before they left that place. They couldn’t leave the scene until the FAA came. Then, once they did come, they claimed that someone saw Severide take a key piece of evidence with him. They showed up at the station with these claims and Severide denied them. He’s never taken trophies in his life. He has no need to start now. Severide told the FAA he didn’t take anything and they refused to believe him.

They even threatened him with getting a federal charge. They said someone saw the lieutenant take it and that it was from someone on his truck. Severide denied the charges. Boden backed him up. The FAA was forced to walk away from this one and so Severide did what they were supposed to. He went back to the school. He talked to the students. He told them that a crucial part of the engine was missing. He didn’t judge them if they took it. But it was important that they return this piece or else they risk facing federal charges. The FAA was looking for this missing piece because it could show why the jet engine fell off the plane.

But the kids didn’t have it. There was also something weird going on with the new paramedic. She seems to rush into things and wants to be the one to handle everything. She was even trying to oust Violet. She made claims that Violet was distracted by the school incident. She told Gallo that Violet couldn’t handle simple impalement and that Violet had been close to hysterics. She hadn’t been. Violet had no problem with that scene. She, therefore, had no clue why Gallo was trying to talk her into taking time off. Sure, Violet was dealing with things. She had a boyfriend and they had to hide their relationship because he was technically her boss.

It makes things difficult. It also doesn’t help that Violet couldn’t talk to Brett about it because Brett was visiting Casey and so Violet turned to Gallo. Who then tried to convince her she was in turmoil. Violet hadn’t known where he was coming until she had a frank conversation with both him and Ritter. She told them that Emma had questioned her decisions in front of a patient. Violet ignored her because she held rank and so she talked to her friends about it and they told her that Emma has been mentioning Violet’s off her game. She’s also been saying how she would like to stay at 51. Violet pieced everything together and she realized that Emma was after her job.

Violet couldn’t go to Hawkins about this because he was out of town for a conference. She then went to Boden to try and get a replacement for Emma and he told her that he couldn’t do that. It was Hawkins’s choice. Hawkins put Emma there. He was the only one who could get her to leave. Emma also hadn’t taken a piece of the jet engine. The others wish they could blame that on her, but it was a stupid kid that took it and he even made a TikTok out of it. He got scared when Severide showed up at school. He took down the video just not fast enough. The firefighters got a tip from another kid about it and Severide went and collected the piece personally.

Severide hadn’t wanted the kid to get in trouble. He pretended he just found it in their equipment and that’s the story he told the FAA when he handed over the final piece of the jet engine.

Violet meanwhile complained to Hawkins when he came back and he told her that he couldn’t move Emma because all eyes were focused on them. And in Violet’s freakout, she said she regretted falling in love because it now risks her job and so that’s when Hawkins told her he loved her too.

As for Mason, he got to teach a new course for CFD trainees about urban planning. He now teaches them to do what he did to save that school building.

THE END!
