In tonight’s Chicago Med episode, Dr. Matthew Cooper is around. He came to the hospital for a doctor’s visit to get his heart checked. He also made sure to run into Dr. Halstead and so that was awkward. Halstead didn’t want to see him. He didn’t want Cooper coming back to the hospital and he surely hadn’t told Cooper that he bought a building. But somehow Cooper found out about it. He even congratulated Halstead on the sale.

On the surface that didn’t seem suspicious only that’s what Halstead should have been knowing Cooper. Cooper couldn’t be trusted. He was a danger to himself as well to others. He also might be going away for a long time and so now is the time to take revenge. And Halstead should have worried about his new purchase.

But Halstead didn’t let his mind go there after that run in. He was too busy on making nice to Dr. Asher. Asher and Halstead have history. They used to date. They were pretty serious actually until she realized she was never going to get clean by staying around the same people and she left and cut off all contact with her enablers. She’s since come back. She’s clean now. She’s back to working at the hospital as an OBGYN and she just got a new patient. Her patient’s name is Mary. She’s thirty-seven weeks. Her water hasn’t broken only she came in about half-way dilated. And so Asher took her patient up to the maternity wing.

Back in the ER, there was a doctor missing. Dr. Scott wasn’t there. He called in sick at the last minute because the Serbian mob showed up at the hospital and they more or less grabbed him. They pressured him into going with them. They then took him to their boss. Nikola Corluka and his wife Lena had wanted a doctor to look at their daughter, Eva. Eva had a temperature. She wasn’t eating. She was also in pain. Scott was a paediatrician. He looked at Eva. He was able to determine the little girl needed to have her appendix removed. But he told her parents that he couldn’t be the one to do it.

Scott wasn’t a surgeon. The surgery also couldn’t happen in the little girl’s bedroom. She needed to be taken to the hospital where she could get surgery there. Scott informed her parents and Lena was ultimately able to convince her husband to listen to the doctor. They brought Eva to the hospital. She was rushed into surgery and Scott stayed by the parents’ side. He talked them through every step of the way. Eva came out of surgery feeling better and she even wanted to eat ice cream. Then she crashed. They lost her pulse and they had to help her breathe. Her parents asked what went wrong. Scott didn’t know.

Scott needed to investigate. It helps that Eva’s mother remembered Eva had been sick when she was first born and that she had made it through by a miracle. But often the doctors had to investigate the symptoms to find out what was really wrong. Dr. Choi did that for his patient and that’s how he learned the dad he was treating had Multiple Sclerosis. No one ever wants to be told that they have MS. The patient resisted the idea and he most definitely didn’t want his daughter to know that he had the disease. The disease meant he would be getting weaker and weaker over time. There was no cure for it.

Anyone who would have gotten that news would be freaked. Choi’s patient wanted to live in denial and so he didn’t want anyone to tell his daughter about it. He wanted his kid to still think that he could do marathon runs with her. But Anya suspected something. She suspected her dad was lying to her. She tried talking to Choi about it and he said he couldn’t disclose anything without his patient’s consent. He on the other hand told her that her she could set up her father’s portal so that he could check his results online. The dad has poor eyesight. His daughter was the one setting that up anyways and so the man eventually came clean once he figured his daughter was going to learn the truth.

Choi watched it from the sidelines. It made him realize that he didn’t want to be Chief of the ED anymore. He was fine with his current position and so he made Archer’s promotion permanent by talking to Goodwin about it. But Scott figured out what was wrong with Eva. Eva has a rare breathing problem that meant she will need extra oxygen at night or when she comes out of surgery. Her happy parents thanked Scott for saving her life. They had lost their tempers earlier when they thought they could lose their daughter, but now that everything is fine, they were happy let bygones be bygones.

And Scott got in a good word with Milena’s boss right before it was revealed that the two of them had a romantic connection.

Asher helped her expectant mother delivery a healthy, but rather big baby boy.

And Crockett realized that his girlfriend has a problem with her hand because they shake when she tries to pinch two fingers together.

But Halstead offered up one of the apartments in his new building to Asher and she agreed to take it.

THE END!
