Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Monday, August 22, teases that Abigail DiMera’s (Marci Miller) final showdown with Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) was revealed while Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) slipped up with Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus). Here’s how all the Days action played out.
At the Salem PD, Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) convinced Gwen to tell him what happened the night of Abigail’s murder, so she spilled on the record about her temporary escape.
DOOL flashbacks showed Gwen wearing the Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) mask and threatening Abigail with a syringe.
However, Abigail ripped the mask off and realized Gwen was trying to make Sarah look like she’d gone off the deep end.
Gwen seemingly wanted to win Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) back and scare Abigail a bit in the process.
The syringe only contained saline, but Abigail threatened to call the cops before Gwen begged her not to.
Gwen assured Abigail that she didn’t kill Laura Horton (Jaime Lyn Bauer) on purpose and wanted to just go back to Statesville.
Abigail finally agreed to let her, but she warned there’d be nowhere for Gwen to hide if she didn’t go back as promised.
Gwen told Rafe that Lucas saw her drop the syringe on her way out.
Although Gwen swore she didn’t kill Abigail, Rafe acted like she couldn’t be trusted after all the lies she’d told.
In Leo Stark’s (Greg Rikaart) cell, he told Sloan Petersen (Jessica Serfaty) his version of events through the bars.
Leo confessed to stealing the knife from his breakfast tray and heading upstairs to Abigail’s room, where he got stuck in the bathroom while she made love to Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn).
Once Leo finally got a chance to leave, he couldn’t resist taking some valuables from Abigail’s jewelry box.
Leo left the knife behind after using it to get the box open, so Sloan knew she couldn’t admit Leo had the murder weapon in Abigail’s room.
Even so, Sloan approached Rafe to pressure him into releasing her client.
Rafe had plenty to hold Leo on, so he vowed to hang onto both Leo and Gwen as suspects.
In Marlena Evans’ (Deidre Hall) office, Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) overheard Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) leaving a voicemail for Dr. Rolf – though all Chad really managed to pick up on was Chloe Lane’s (Nadia Bjorlin) name.
Kristen blamed it on work issues and tried to comfort Chad over Abigail’s death, but he ranted about Abby’s island stay and how Kristen had robbed them of that time together.
Kristen was apologetic on Monday’s Days episode and talked about being the worst of the DiMeras while Chad was the best.
Although Kristen felt she was of no use to Chad, she really wished that wasn’t the case.
Chad later made it back to the Horton house, where Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) and Jennifer Deveraux (Cady McClain) filled him in on Gwen’s police drama.
After Chad assumed it was Gwen all along, he went to make dinner for the kids and shut down all his emotions.
In Li Shin’s (Remington Hoffman) hotel suite, he lied to Gabi about Dr. Rolf looking for work.
Gabi made it clear DiMera Enterprises wouldn’t be hiring Dr. Rolf and slammed him for refusing to save Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash).
After Gabi got under Dr. Rolf’s skin, he snapped that she’d be on her knees thanking him if she knew what he’d achieved.
Gabi wondered what that was supposed to mean, but Li threw Dr. Rolf out and distracted Gabi with lovemaking.
Even so, Gabi couldn’t get Dr. Rolf’s comment off her mind later. Li looked concerned since Gabi was rather fixated on Dr. Rolf’s hidden meaning.
As for Dr. Rolf, he faced more pressure from Kristen in the lab and finally got to work on the brainwashing process.
While Dr. Rolf was trying to manipulate Stefan’s brainwaves, Stefan opened his eyes and snatched Rolf’s arm.
Days of Our Lives spoilers say Stefan will have some important questions for Dr. Rolf soon enough, so stick with DOOL.
