Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that Robert Scott Wilson (Ben Weston) will play a new DOOL character, so Ben will exit with Ciara Brady Weston (Victoria Konefal) ahead of this role swap. Let’s talk about this tricky situation and why trading characters seems necessary.
According to insiders, Ben and Ciara are headed offscreen in the coming months. By July, Ciara and Ben will be off canvas after making a joint exit together.
Of course, we should mention that Ben and Ciara will be featured on Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem in July as well, so we’ll see whether that comes before or after their official exit from the show.
Whatever the case, this will give Ciara and Ben a happy ending with little Bo Weston (Cody and Warren Kraslow) and open the door to a new beginning for Robert Scott Wilson.
Victoria Konefal has been willing to come back for various stints, but now things are trickier since Ciara and Ben are parents.
With Ciara gone again, Days can’t have Ben abandon his family by coming back alone – and there’s not much left for Ben in Salem without Ciara and Baby Bo anyway.
Wilson has still been filming without Konefal, so all signs point to Ben leaving with Ciara before Wilson returns as someone else.
This sort of thing has become common at General Hospital, but Days has done it before, too.
For example, when Kyle Lowder made his DOOL comeback, he became a Rex Brady recast since his previous role had already been filled.
Eric Martsolf kept the part of Brady Black while Lowder slid into a brand-new one – and we all had to pretend the new Rex didn’t look like the old Brady!
It took some getting used to, but now fans think of Lowder as Rex. Likewise, viewers can adjust to seeing Wilson playing a new role in time.
The NBC soap wants to keep Wilson on their cast, so the easiest way to do that is to have him portray another character and hope that fans will embrace him.
As for who Wilson will be playing, there’s no confirmation on that yet.
There have been some rumblings about Wilson tackling the role of Alex Kiriakis or perhaps another member of the Kiriakis family, but we’ll see how it all goes down.
Regardless, insiders have been dropping hints about Wilson’s new role – and that certainly fits with what we know about Ben’s “happily ever after” exit with Ciara beforehand.
Instead of breaking up Ben’s blissful family, Wilson can return as someone else and play something fresh.
