Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Tuesday, August 23, teases that Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash) rang the DiMera mansion doorbell while Paulina Price-Carver (Jackée Harry) was revealed as Stephanie Johnson’s (Abigail Klein) mystery client. Let’s talk about how all the DOOL action went down.
At home, Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) tried to play peacemaker during Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) and Stephanie’s fight over whether he’d attend her mystery meeting.
Steve was adamant that Orpheus (George DelHoyo) had to be the anonymous PR client, but Stephanie felt like he was being paranoid and didn’t want her dad making her look unprofessional.
In the town square, Paulina sought Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) and John Black’s (Drake Hogestyn) help convincing Abe Carver (James Reynolds) to run for governor, but they weren’t interested in pressuring him.
Steve eventually approached John with urgent news and pulled him away from the table to discuss Orpheus going after Stephanie.
Nearby, Marlena encouraged Paulina to talk to Abe and try to make decisions about the future together.
After Paulina was gone, John gave Marlena updates on Steve’s dinner invitation. Marlena seemed suspicious, but she went along with Steve and John’s wishes.
Next on Tuesday’s Days episode, Steve apologized to Stephanie and acted like he was going to back off.
Once Stephanie headed out for her mysterious meeting, it became clear that Steve and John were going to follow her.
That left Marlena and Kayla to mull over the situation on their own.
Marlena acted like you could never be too careful when it came to Orpheus, who ultimately showed up at the door and greeted both ladies.
Back with Stephanie, she was startled as she arrived in a darkened room. Steve ran to Stephanie’s side while John grabbed the mystery client forcefully, but it turned out to be Paulina!
In Li Shin’s (Remington Hoffman) hotel suite, he downplayed Dr. Wilhelm Rolf’s (Richard Wharton) weird statement about how Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus) would thank him if she only knew.
Gabi worried there was a secret she should be in the loop on, but Li acted like Dr. Rolf just had delusions of grandeur.
After Li offered plenty of reassurance, Gabi thanked him for always being able to do that.
At the DiMera mansion, Ava slapped EJ after he accused her of trying to seduce Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) and called her pathetic for going after someone young enough to be her son.
Ava acted like Johnny was showing her kindness when EJ had been nothing but insensitive.
After summoning Gabi to finalize the details of her DiMera job, Ava got the most expensive bottle of wine from the cellar and took a swig from it.
EJ was also appalled when Ava intentionally smashed a fancy heirloom glass.
Once Gabi showed up, Ava pushed EJ to leave since they were discussing company matters that he wasn’t part of.
EJ grumbled since he was being dismissed in his own home.
After EJ left the living room, Gabi pointed out that she could see the heat between Ava and EJ. There was some steamy chemistry in Gabi’s opinion.
Ava denied it, but Gabi thought there was a thin line between love and hate when it came to DiMeras.
Although Ava argued that her husband, Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash), was the only DiMera for her, Gabi insisted Ava’s marriage was fake – making Gabi the only true widow DiMera.
In the lab on Tuesday’s Days episode, Stefan detached himself from all the equipment he was hooked up to.
Dr. Rolf pushed Stefan to calm down, but Stefan made it clear that he was the one giving the orders.
Stefan demanded answers, so Dr. Rolf jogged his memory about getting shot and admitted he’d been “dead” for four years.
Once Stefan got the scoop on his new heart, he vowed to find Gabi and pushed Dr. Rolf to give him his car keys.
Dr. Rolf sent Li an SOS text, so Li came running to the lab and learned Stefan was gone. Meanwhile, Stefan staggered up to the DiMera mansion doorstep in his hospital gown.
After Stefan had a flashback of the last time he saw Gabi, he rang the doorbell and waited. As other Days info becomes available, we’ll fill you in.
