Special Agent in Charge Rina Trenholm has passed. Her parents were left with her power of attorney after she fell into a coma and they used it to turn off life support. Neither of them bothered to call Jubal or tell him what they were going to do. He ended up finding out when he went to go see her in the hospital and he found her room empty. He had to ask the front desk where she was. They broke the news to him and truthfully it should have been her family. They knew Jubal was in her life. They knew their daughter cared for him. They could have at least let him be there once she was taken off life support and so the way they handled things was wrong from start to finish. If Jubal hadn’t shown at the hospital, he would have found out his girlfriend died when Isobel broke the news to the team.

Isobel also mentioned that they were going to have a small memorial for Rina. She told them that everyone was welcome to stop by and she tried to talk to Jubal one on one but he wasn’t having it. Jubal was angry. He’s been angry since Rina was shot right in front of him and he couldn’t do anything to save her. The only thing that helped in his moment of grief was the job. Jubal and his team were working on a new case. They were investigating an abduction. Their cameras picked up the moment a woman was tased and carried off as she went through a national park. Any crime committed on federal land makes it a federal case.

The abduction of nineteen-year-old Angela Mullins, therefore, was a case for the FBI. They looked into the victim and they found out from her mother that she was dating an older man up until recently. Her mother never met him. She was against the idea of an older man because she thought he was only using her daughter and so mother and daughter had a fight about it. They hadn’t spoken in a while until Angela called her mother to say she broke up with the guy. She wanted to lean on her mom and her mom said they could get mani/pedis. Angela was walking home when she ran across a group of men. She went into the park to hide and that’s where she met the Unsub.

A few hours after Angela went missing – someone dumped the body of a similar-looking girl. The FBI was alerted because everyone thought that was the woman they were looking for and it turns out the girl that was dumped was in fact Cassidy Drabeck. She was another teenager that went missing four months ago. She looks like she could be related to Angela. She also showed up wearing the same clothes as Angela was wearing when she went missing. The second body proved to the FBI that they weren’t looking for a kidnapper that knew his victims. He was choosing them because he was of a stalker variety who was obsessed with a woman of that same look.

The Unsub fixated on Cassidy. He showed up at one of her shows at the local theater and he even gave her flowers. Cassidy told her father about it because she thought it was odd someone would know her favorite flower. Hyacinths aren’t typically what fans hand out. They tend to go for roses and so the team asked Cassidy’s father if he taped that play off her. They wanted to see if they could notice the stalker in the film and they did. He was the guy that wasn’t filming the play. He was just filming Cassidy. He left with a woman whose face was clear in the video and so they identified his co-conspirator as Beth Paige.

Finding out about Paige led to them identifying the Unsub. His name is Doyle Buckler. He doesn’t have much of a presence and so they looked into Paige. She had apparently been collecting evidence on both Cassidy and Angela. She also was collecting evidence/stalking a woman by the name of Darcey Edmonds. The FBI contacted Darcey. She was still alive. She also knew Buckler. Buckler was her ex-boyfriend. They dated for two months when he proposed and she turned him down. She found out that he had created a dossier on her. And that they only met because he was stalking her by pretending to be an old friend on social media.

The team figured he’d use the same ploy to stalk the others. They checked the victims’ social media and they found out someone they went to school with but haven’t heard from in a while had contacted them and that the person they used the chance of being friended to send declarations of love. The team tracked down the IP address. It led them to the docks by the crates. They later found Paige and not Buckler or Angela. Paige was a submissive personality. She genuinely thought that Buckler loved her in spite of not looking like his victims and so the team pointed out that the only woman he’s ever loved has been Darcey. She broke up with him and he’s been trying to replace her with a look-alike.

The team only had to point out all the things he was willing to do to get Darcey back to get Paige to flip on Buckler. She told them about the burner phone. They then traced it and they found out that Buckler was in the cloisters. It’s the area where he brought Darcey to propose to her. The team caught up to Buckler. They arrested him and they later found Angela. She was left to die but they found her in time.

Jubal had a hard time with Cassidy’s father and he probably pushed the man more than he should but he did so out of grief and he knows now that he crossed a line. He pushed that poor grieving man because he was mourning the loss of Rina. And it didn’t help that her mother collected her things from the office just to tell Jubal it’s his fault that Rina took the job in New York. But later Cassidy’s father lashed out. He took a woman hostage demanding that Buckler be handed over to him. He wanted to kill the man that took away his only child and so Jubal had to talk him down. He convinced him to let the hostage go. And hopefully, the grieving father will be treated with leniency.
