A couple was murdered at a national memorial to General Grant. Every crime that occurs on federal land was considered a federal offense and so Jubal and his team were assigned this one. They went to the scene. The FBI saw that the male victim was shot and the female victim was repeatedly stabbed. The two different methods of murder didn’t make sense. Not until they realized that the young couple went to Mexico recently. They hadn’t posted or taken any kind of photos while down there and that was odd. Young people today have to photograph everything. It doesn’t make sense that they would have an active social media presence and somehow didn’t post a single thing about this trip to Mexico.

The FBI spoke with the victims’ loved ones. Julia Miller’s mother thought her daughter was still out of the country on vacation and so she had no idea that her daughter flew in the night before. The mother also said her daughter was woefully broke. She was a college student and neither she nor her boyfriend had the funds for much. Yet, they had one for a vacation to Mexico? It didn’t make sense. The FBI checked footage outside of the airport and the young couple got picked up by Benny Gomez. He even used his registered vehicle to pick them up. He was the last person to see them alive and so the FBI wanted to talk to him.

They went to his apartment. He ran after they identified themselves as FBI. They pursued Gomez. He managed to escape them and so put out an APB on him. They later caught up to him as he was meeting another agent. this other agent’s name is Nina. Nina and Scola had a thing. They hooked up and he failed to call her the next morning and so he felt bad about crashing her case. Nina was using Gomez as a criminal informant to get information on the Mexican Regents. They’re notorious gangs that rely heavily on drugs. Gomez had picked up the couple because the kids were acting as mules for the gang.

But something went wrong. Julia was starting to feel sick. She asked to be let out of the car and so Gomez told her to walk around. Get some fresh air. Gomez called his boss to report it and his boss said that he would take care of it. The next thing that happens is that the kids are murdered. The gang cut out the drugs in the mule and Gomez moved on. He claims not to have witnessed anything. He also said that he didn’t know for sure what happened to the couple. He just ran because he hadn’t wanted to be arrested by the FBI. Scola and Tiffany working with Nina managed to convince Gomez to get information on his boss.

On Octavio. Nina was already working with an angel to tie the gang to the drugs and so the FBI commandeered it. They asked her informant to become their informant. They asked him to get a DNA sample of Octavio’s and to get his confession. Nina prepped Gomez. She told him to get what he could and unfortunately, that was nothing. Nina hadn’t wanted to blow the ops. She ended up grabbing cigarette buds from the trash as a means of getting Octavio’s DNA. It wasn’t a match to the DNA found underneath Julia’s fingernails and so the team thought he might have hired someone else to do it.

The FBI continued looking into Octavio. They followed Nina’s plan for what she had already set up and that was her going in undercover. Nina pretended to be a buyer out of Canada. She got close to Octavio. She convinced him to make a buy. They were going to later meet up and, at that time, Nina learned that Octavio doesn’t smoke. It was his guard that does. The team was able to grab Octavio’s beer bottle and that was a match to the DNA from the crime scene. Octavio killed Julia Miller and her boyfriend. Nina still wanted to make her bust. She wanted to get to Octavio’s boss. So, she arranged to meet up with Octavio and El Perro.

It was only Octavio that showed. Octavio got paranoid. He mistrusts everyone. He hadn’t wanted to involve the big boss and so the FBI got worried. They made promises to Nina that she could have this bust, but they realized too late that that wasn’t enough and so they arrested Octavio for murder. It didn’t take the man long before he flipped on his own boss. Scola also found out their plan for Nina. They were going to rob her and then kill her. Scola later tried calling Nina to make sure she wasn’t trying to make the buy without help. She wasn’t taking his calls because she was angry at him for ruining her op.

Scola and Tiffany tracked down Nina. She was meeting with El Perro. They got there the same time as El Perro and so it led to a shootout. the agents were able to take down El Perro. They had to call for an ambulance because Gomez got shot as well. And after everything, they did together, plus him saving her life, Nina allowed Scola to make up for never calling her.
